Nielsen has to be pissed at the Saints. Why would he give them any of his efforts after they screwed him. Hope he tanks the damn D-line after this bullshite!

Again I'd love to see the specific wording that prevents a Saints assistant coach from taking a defensive coordinator job at LSU that comes with at least a million + raise per year.

If it's in there and he signed it then this is all on Nielsen.

LSU could fight it and win in court but that’s a long process so they moved on.

I don’t get the benefit of doing this to one of your coaches. It’s so unprofessional and stupid.

Or they countered with a crazy offer he couldn't turn down...

This is the Saints we’re talking about. Dysfunction runs in their veins.

That’s his agent’s job. They aren’t giving LSU a look at his contract with the Saints.

You know good and well Orgeron went talking to this guy before engaging his Agent or the Saints.

First question, “is there anything precluding you from accepting this job contractually? What are the severance damages.”

I’d also like to see the wording but doubt we do. We can only go off what’s being reported which is that it’s a contract dispute and Nielsen wanted the LSU DC job. That reporting isn’t a good look for the Saints who will be hiring some new people.

You actually think the Saints are holding him hostage? You think they're keeping a coach around that is pissed and doesn't want to be there? Can you be any more naive?

That doesn't say anything. He doesn't specify what he means there. Obviously he got incentive to stay and basically got promoted by NO. Probably getting DC opportunity there once Allen leaves. If he wanted out of New Orleans they'd let him out of his contract obligations. They're not holding him hostage. They didn't want to lose him. That's the difference.

Oh cool. Link me where there's actual evidence of what you just said. until then you're just spreading rumors so you can feel like the smart guy and shite on O.

Ryan Nielsen will get a new 3-year contract and the added title of assistant head coach with the Saints, per source.

Dan Campbell had the title of asst. head coach before leaving for the Lions. So Nielsen will take on some of the leadership duties associated with that role.

If Nielsen wanted to be at LSU he would be

A court battle over a million dollars is nothing to LSU

Actually I don’t. I think Orgeron got played for a raise and commitment for promotion if this bears out this way.

Everything seems otherwise.

knowing whether or not the guy you are in negotiations with is actually available seems pretty basic.

I think both parties knew Nielsen's situation but chose to operate under the assumption the Saints would just let him walk
