Coaching football in the SEC seems like a great way to make millions and not have to be good at your job.

That's actually not an awful contract.

If he miraculously won A&M a national championship then he earned a $10 million bonus. So I would assumed stacked.

Are those bonuses cumulative or do they supercede each other?

Just don't give him an extension until after year 5.

Nobody:
TAMU: “well, Elko moved into his office today… that’s worth a 10 year $145mil fully guaranteed contract extension”

Too low. Elks should demand a $100 million buyout!

$7M/year, 6 years, 75%-80% buyout

So, you can see the objective.

Rather than making a big hire...they felt they had to normalize the contracts that they were giving out. Any top coaching candidate would have required something like Jimbo got.

Paying more does not equate to wins as Jimbo proved and most of UTs recent hires. Kirby and saban are underpaid. Everyone else is over paid. Pay BK 12 mil a year he is still 9-3 this year

I too was shocked to see that lol

Anytime we played poorly I read how we could’ve had Napier for 5 million and 5 years instead we are stuck with this bum winning 10 games per year

Well apparently we would have needed to pay 7 million per year to win 5 games so I guess Woody got a bargain

I just don’t understand this buzz. Dude was 9-4 and 7-5 at Duke with a military bowl win over UCF. Then as a DC over the years I just don’t see anything that pops out at me.

None of his defenses were in the top ten. Going back to Wake Forest, ND and A&M.

What exactly is so amazing about this guy as a HC? It’s got Joe Moorhead 2.0 written all over it. Amazing to me that tamu thinks they’re too good for Mark Stoops and that Elko is a home run hire. Brainwashed much?

Impressive assistant pool.

Not really $11 Million isnt much.

Takes about 1M each for OC & DC that leaves $9 millions for 8 assistant (probably 5ish Million total) then you have training staff, strentgh coaches, nutrionist, recruiting staff. That $11M will go quick

Insane contracts

Kiffen and Stoops are the best coaches both programs have had in ages. They'd quickly be picked off without that money

Napier. Good grief.

I'm telling you Florida's trajectory over the next 5 years, as of today, barring good hires and recruits NOT CURRENTLY made, is better

Lmao based on what?? The fact that as of today the current recruiting class is ranked higher than ours as of today ?

Seems a bit premature to assume what that means for the next 5 years especially when there’s a better than 50/50 chance they will be starting over again in 2025 but hey I’m sure you have a rational basis for your post

He’s a younger Mark Stoops who is seen as having more upside bc of his lack of experience and his ties to atm make this another “Aggie way” hire which apparently they’re all about even though the “Aggie way” has resulted in the absence of any conference titles over the past 25 years and no natties since 1939.

It’s a very proud tradition to stick to that even in the face of evidence that says it’s stupid. Hat tip for their dedication and belief in what they’re doing over there
