He was the DC at A&M from 18-21 but they act like he was a former player and long time assistant there. He’s a yankee

Yea nobody on atm side is acting like it’s a home run. Some have even called it a quasi-government hire lol

The sensible Aggies seem to view it with cautious optimism but recognize that he is an unknown in many ways. There is upside potential and the very least he will field a defense that plays hard.

Not an exciting hire but a sound hire I’d say as I believe he will be competent and solid.

Not trolling but honestly I would have expected atm to do better but then again if you’re not gonna break the bank these days you’re not gonna get an active head coach who is highly accomplished and proven.

Some of the frequent Aggie posters here have been pretty confident that Elko is an excellent hire and the best man for the job.

The Aggie posters posting here not an accurate representation of the more intelligent Aggie fans who see things objectively. What you’ve got here is a collection of insecure trolls for the most part and highly defensive people who take honest efforts to discuss things objectively as an attack.

Maybe it’s the byproduct of them being on an LSU site that they come in with that posture and don’t show their best sides or maybe that’s just who they are.

Either way, they’re not a good representation of the Aggie fans from what I’ve seen out there.

7m a year for a 3rd year head coach is wild.

The Jimbo contract was problematic. A good agent is going to use that as a starting point even if he expects less for his own client.

Not really $11 Million isnt much. Takes about 1M each for OC & DC that leaves $9 millions for 8 assistant (probably 5ish Million total) then you have training staff, strentgh coaches, nutrionist, recruiting staff. That $11M will go quick

True, with good assistants, $11M goes real fast. Look at the LSU Staff. I’m sure some from the Jimbo staff will be retained. Then who wants to move, start over, a move for some coaches, has to be more money, better contract that what the now have.

Impressive assistant pool.
if it were just for the 9 asst coaches yes, but that's for the entire support staff it sounds like

That could end up being 70+ people
