So my buddy Kalunda (not his real name) stopped by last night to return my Tivo and borrow some toilet paper. We hadn't chatted in a while, so we grabbed a few beers and headed out to the back patio.

I told him that I was helping my son study for his Social Studies test about Culture and Heritage. Some of the pages in the chapter discussed myths, tall tales and legends.

The K-man was reminded of the urban myth about Richard Gere and the gerbil. We found it amazing that the gerbil story spread as much as it did without the aide of the internet.

I recall learning about that story in grade school. Do you think it was one dude or a group of people that came up with that story? Has Gere ever addressed the story?

Do you think the person that came up with the Gere story also came up with the Rod Stewart story?

Rod Stewart swallowed so much jizz he had to go to the ER and get his stomach pumped.

It was either that or die of a jizz overdose.

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

It's time to cut off Kalunda. That dude is always bumming your toilet paper.

I still owe him for the time he faux finished my kitchen walls. Instead of paying him in cash, we agreed I would pay him in toilet paper.

Back in the 90's, a magazine referenced it as an urban myth "that even the National Enquirer wouldn't comment on."

I don't remember when I heard the Gerbil story, probably college.

I heard the Rod Stewart one in high school, though. My friend's older brother told me about it.

I've heard the Phil Collins one, I think that was in high school, but it could've been later.

Re-written from the original Rod Stewart story.

I think the Rod Stewart story reference appeared in a Rolling Stone article around '79.

While going through a separation or divorce, Mick Jagger's wife confessed to finding the two together in a compromising position, and embellished the rest of the story.

The Phil Collins legend from "In the Air Tonight", as I heard it somewhere around '85, was a man who came home to find his wife being raped, later in life crossed paths with said guy in distress from a boating accident, and left him for dead.

The rod stewart story is also an Elton John story, a little Richard story and a Freddie Mercury story

The story with Mick Jagger was actually with David Bowie and it was Angie Bowie that said she came home to find them in bed together

Wasn't this the same plot from Romancing the Stone!
