Marcus is correct. If the Tigers aren't in the CFP, BK will either Retire or Resign with a Settlement to gtfo. (A la Orgeron)

Rather than all that, they should focus on beating Clemson. Win them one game at a time, then whatever happens - happens.

I like to use the term "units". LSU has the DL, LBers, and probably the secondary to win a NC. The QB, RBs, and WRer/TE are enough to win a NC. The real key is the OL. Last year's OL was fine in pass blocking but lousy at run blocking. This OL needs to maintain the pass blocking prowess with new players along the OL but HAVE to be able to run the ball. If the OL is good, LSU has a real shot at winning it all. The rest of the positions are more than covered...of course the HUGE assumption is that Nussmeier can't get hurt for multiple games. In other words, the Nuss bus can't have a flat. Sorry! LOL!

Well LSU is 40 million into this guy- fair to demand at least a playoff appearance?

It doesn’t matter what the fans think. BK is here for 5 more years. LSU cant afford his buyout.

BK will get to booth for being Cholly Mac in other words average

Turning all they want; the dollars will not allow anything but grumbles. LSU stuck with this for 3-4 more years. To win CFB in NIL, you have to have top $$$ and top recruits. Not top 10

Spears is 100% correct. CBK even boast about finally having a championship roster. Now it is time to show what he can do with it along with Sloan and Baker. This is at least a 10 or 11 win team. Going 9-3,8-4 will not be acceptable for Tiger fans. Should have never signed a coach for this kind of money until he proves himself. ND schedules are not the SEC West.

All I can say is if LSU fires CBK they better have a "better" candidate to fill the shoes. Good luck there.

So far CBK has been average. If he doesn’t cut it I’m sure we can find someone a little above average
user avatar

In all honesty he has been better than average. He won the SECW in his first year with a not great team. He has been well above average in recruiting.
user avatar
TigerFanFromBama4 months
"He has been well above average in recruiting" ...LSU recruits itself. Any average coach can come here and consistently land a Top 10 class. Its been that way for the last 20 years.

Regardless of BK's record this year, he is not on the hot seat. LSU owes too much. The best I can hope for is that BK becomes more disciplined on both sides of the ball. Baker will take care of the defense. It is up to Kelly to clean up penalties, predictable running game, and all facets of the passing game. Kelly has never provided a complete game of mistake-free or near-mistake-proof football. 2025 is the season for LSU football to do its job.

Kelly was a terrible hire. One of LSUs worst. He doesn’t fit our culture, at all. He looks like he always has to take a gnarly shite.

Please stop saying this dumb talking point. Neither did Saban

Don’t be ridiculous. You obviously are too young to remember the 80s-90’s. Stovall, Hallman, Arnsparger,
DiNardo. Seems like I’m forgetting someone. Archer.
Stovall was a former LSU great player. Great guy. Bled LSU. Terrible hire.
Quit with the stupid “culture “ shite.

Please, don’t bring the truth into this thread.

If we lose every game this season CBK isn't going anywhere and I think he knows this.
As fans we will be upset but that's about it.
In 2015 CLM had a $15 million buyout and we couldn't let him go. CBK has a $61 million buyout. He's not going anywhere

Thanks Woodward. Such a great negotiator.

This program was a disaster and that’s why CBK was brought in. It was more than just a roster mess the entire football program was a dumpster fire

This has been said for 2 years about this year…..this isn’t some scoop or some big reveal. The whole world knows and has for a while.

I can accept whatever the season brings. I just can’t stand the excuse of “we need more NIL money!”
user avatar

They were mid-tiered in NIL of the SEC for funding football before this class. That is a fact. So whatever you want to believe, this is the first roster with the necessary depth that really has a chance to compete.

Last season, LSU spent 4-5 million on NIL, while Playoff Contenders like Ohio St. and Texas paid out 20+ million and teams like Ole Miss, GA, and AL were all near the 20 million dollar mark, as were most Too Ten Teams! Kelly’s got comparable talent this season, let’s see what he does with equal talent/opportunity!?! We weren’t in equal footing before, let’s be fair/honest as fans.

It took Kirby Smart 6 years to win nati, Dabo 7 years, Harbaugh 8 years. It's not all bleak
user avatar
TigerFanFromBama4 months
Kirby got the job in 2016 and was playing in a National Championship game in 2 years.
user avatar

true, however, Georgia football program was in a lot better condition for Kirby compared to LSU when BK took over.
user avatar

With this expanded playoff field, the expectation is that LSU makes the playoff a great majority of the time. If Kelly misses playoffs in this climate, it's a failure of a season.
user avatar
Saunson694 months
He still has $50 mil left on his contract. No one's buying that out, not even Gordon, besides Todd Graves.
user avatar
MadMartigen4 months
Todd Graves is a Georgia alum so i doubt he will be dropping any serious money on LSU.

Regardless of how things go, some portion of the fan base will be griping. Lest we forget 2019- when The Sky Is Falling raged over the defense all the way to the Arkansas game....LOL
user avatar

That sounds like a coach who has one foot out the door and he doesn't realize it. But that is a big buyout
user avatar
BowDownToLSU4 months
That buyout is on Woody , terrible contract. I’ll give CBK one thing, he definitely picked a good agent
