After the segment was aired, game commentators Brock Huard and Bob Wischusen added their impressions as well. Even sideline reporter Allison Williams did a live impression of Orgeron during the game as Coach O stood a just a few steps away.

During Wednesday's episode of the "Ed Orgeron Radio Show," coach was asked about the segment and said he's "proud to be Cajun. All I'm going to say."

Well said, Coach.

For a media company that was sensitive enough to remove Robert Lee, an Asian broadcaster, from a TV role at a UVA game, it doesn't surprise me that they lack the self awareness to see the double standard. I'm not offended by the impersonations but realize in any other context/nationality this would be a social media hastag storm.

Easy. Down a bottle of scotch and blow a 34 point lead.

How did this become about race? They're mocking his accent. Not sending death threats or labeling him because of the color of his skin. Stop being a whiny racist looking for a reason to cry reverse racism.

I'm sure heads would roll if they had made fun of an african-american coach.

I'm revenge triggered. This is where I'm not actually triggered, but then I realize that if Orgeron was anything other than a white dude people would be fired and lawsuits filed. So now I'm triggered.

I agree. I thought it was a little disrespectful when I saw it, but nothing was said until now. But good point by draginnass. Why is this not considered racism against Cajuns? I think more should be done to put a stop to this. Blacks and Hispanics are not the only ones being discriminated against. ESPN should take appropriate action against their employees immediately! What's good for the goose is good for the gander!

Imagine if they did same to a black coach speaking Ebonics
user avatar

Avery Johnson would actually be a good voice to try that with. But his isn't Ebonics, just very unique.

Coonasses aren't hypersensitive like certain other groups. Thats why this isnt a big deal.

So....ESPN is appalled about their own pre-recorded bit poking fun at O? Am I missing something? I can't take ESPN seriously for shite.

Imagine if they did that to an African American female who had an "accent"....still would be cool, right?

Regardless of it being either funny or offensive, it was at the very least tactless and unprofessional.

Its fine to be tasteless as long as its funny. The problem comes from it not being funny, and being a gigantic cringe fest. Especially the sideline reporter.

I liked the other coaches impressions and thought they were ok. Brock Huard was clearly making fun of Coach O and sounded like the overalled farmer on The Waterboy

I agree but I wouldn't expect anything else from a grown man with an 8 year olds hair cut.

Cajun's don't get their panties twisted over everything. So this won't be a big deal

Brock Huard is a weird looking dude anyway, but when he started his impression of O he looked really odd and frightening. They mostly embarasses themselves in the end.

So I am curious.. is this a new thing for ESPN, where they select a coach each week and find some aspect of them to make fun of... ?? Can't wait to see what they do with Saban, Urban Meyer, ect...

They're pretty clearly making fun of Ed O. He is pretty clearly a little miffed by the impressions given his response. ESPN is covering its arse. LSU doesn't want its head coach to be a punchline. Not sure how any of that leads to anyone being a hypersensitive snowflake.

I didn't have much of a problem with it, other than Huard's cross eyes he threw in. That was a little too far.

I was so drunk when I saw this I wasn't even sure what I just saw. Glad to hear ESPN is taking this seriously. I heard the higher ups in Japan were like wtf when they heard about Pearl Harbor

Didn't find it offensive and don't find being called coonass offensive. Wish everybody would just lighten up and realize intent matters. The intent was to demonstrate fondness. Like if you walk in the room and everyone calls you an a**hole they like you, but if you walk in the room and no one says anything, you're an a**hole.
