LSU basketball coach Will Wade continues to make major moves on the recruiting trail, landing a commitment from highly touted center Xavier Young on Saturday.

The 6-foot-10 prospect from Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy in Dallas, Texas, announced his commitment to LSU over Maryland, Michigan, TCU, and Tennessee.

Young is currently ranked as the No. 11 overall prospect in the 2028 recruiting class, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, but will reclassify to the 2027 class.

Young also helped Team USA win a gold medal at the FIBA U17 World Cup this summer, averaging 7.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.

The commitment gives Wade his fourth pledge in LSU's 2027 recruiting class, joining five-star point guard Reese Alston, four-star guard King Gibson, and four-star center Ahmad Hudson.

With Young now on board, LSU holds the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for 2027, according to Rivals.

THis is great news. Anybody seen him play? I trust the scouting to a degree but I have to wonder what kind of competition he faced. Hopefully he develops well. I'm getting excited for 2027-2028 season.

Nice, they are already generating W's on the recruiting trail and we will be seeing them shortly on the court. SEC is not going to be happy...

Before everyone gives WW credit for such a great job of recruiting, consider the staff that WW has....Young is from Dallas and Reece is from Houston....Johnny Jones was at North Texas and likely had a relationship with both of them and Rick Stansbury is a very good recruiter of big men. So I wouldn't give all of the credit to WW but I do love the job the entire staff at LSU is doing....awesome job. I can't wait to see who they add next.

So, the head coach doesn’t get credit for hiring assistant coaches that are also good recruiters? The shite y’all come up sometimes is hilarious.

Man, It didn't take WW to score the #1 recruiting class. I knew he was a great HC, but I forgot what a hell of a recruiter he was.

Will Wade has 3 former head coaches on his staff. Rick Stansbury, Johnny Jones & Damon Stoudamire.
