Do dumb people know they are dumb?

That would suck to know that you’re stupid.

But are you too dumb to know you are dumb?

What about being ignorant? Don’t ignorant people known that they are? Some people just stop learning and shut it down even before graduating high school.

No. Double OH is a PERFECT example of not realizing you are dumb.

No. By definition ignorant people don't know something because they have never had the opportunity to learn it, whether by circumstance or by their own unwillingness.

I can handle ignorance. It's not necessarily that person's fault they are ignorant. I have a very low tolerance for stupidity though. Whenever you try to let somebody know that what they think is correct is wrong, and then they double and triple down on it after knowing, I struggle to handle.

Different opinions isn't stupidity, or ignorance, though. A difference of opinion is just a difference of opinion, and can lead to healthy discussion both ways.

I doubt it.

We just had a poster slandering Christianity to defend Islam by proxy.

The thread was deleted, but said poster’s comparison didn’t work, at all. Genesis records Lot’s daughters getting him drunk and sleeping with him. It doesn’t celebrate the act, justify it, or present it as morally acceptable.

Muhammad, meanwhile, is considered Islam’s ideal moral example, and his marriage to Aisha is still defended as legitimate. A religious text describing depravity is not the same as its central prophet participating in it.

pathetic.

I would guess some are oblivious and others don’t think they are dumb but lots of other people are smart.

No. They think they aren’t. And now they gaslight themselves (and others if they can) if someone produces an intellectual product they can’t then it MUST be AI.

I’ve even been accused of using AI to respond my texts for me. I neither know how or understand the value in doing so.

Ignorance is a choice

You should probably look up the definition of each. Ignorance is less of a choice. Being dumb is where choice comes into play.

Want to discuss rocket science? I don't belong. That doesn't make me dumb. It makes me ignorant about all things rocket science. But if I try to jump into discussion with rocket scientist and pretend I know wtf I'm talking about, now I'm dumb and ignorant.

I know a lot of dumb people and not only do most of them not know they're dumb, they think they're highly intelligent.

Dumb people and AI is a dangerous combo. It gives the the ability to pretend they are smart, while also giving them a built in excuse as to why someone smarter than them is dumb.....and are too stupid to realize they are just dumb

Another great example, along with Double OH.

Although, I dont think you are necessary dumb. You just severely lack attention in real life and you seek to get that attention from this board.

Everything’s relative, they probably know unless they are too intellectually challenged to know there’s a difference.

What happened? Was something egregious said or was it an enforcement of the no religion thread edict?

There one second gone the next.

Ignorance vs. StupidityIgnorance means you do not have the information yet. You can fix it by learning.Stupidity means a hard time understanding or using information well.

Even AI understands,
