If you have a spare 4 hrs, check out Pacific Grove Links. Front 9 is quirky and fun. Back 9 is really fantastic.

4-10 at Pebble had me in complete awe. 2nd shot on 6th was the most intimidating shot of my life from right side of fairway. 17th is so iconic. Teary eyed walking up 18 at Sunset. I dont think I can ever top that experience

18 on the Links has ruined a few rounds for me
re: Can you tell a difference in the balls you're playing?
Posted by Scottforeverlsu on 10/10/25 at 8:37 am to mikedatyger
I believe soft balls FEELS like they spin more but dont. I prefer the feel of a softer ball, but firmer spinnier balls are better for my game. Recently started using Maxfli Tour X and really like them.

Yea, definitely Koasati. More expense but worth it. I play Tamahka a lot and enjoy it. I also find Tamahka harder
re: Condition of Gulf Shores area courses?

Magnolia Grove Falls great shape, hard as shite.
Kiva greens slow on Thursday, perfect on Saturday
Peninsula Lakes/Marsh Friday greens perfect speed for making putts, still do not like the layout .
A great time had by all

Always mostly decent. Sometimes pretty good. Fun scramble course. Service is great and has one of the best cheeseburgers anywhere.
I play there with family mostly. Beer is cold.
Heard they were doing something to the greens last weekend, not sure what
