As I get older , getting the gapping right between fairways and irons get tougher.

Right now I have -

TM Qi4D 16.5, 4 wood - Perfect off the tee and deck.

Cally Heavenwood, 20*, 4 wood length shaft - awesome club, can squeeze 190- 200 out of it. It's really a 6 wood.

Ping G440 hybrid, 22*, which I loathe more times than not.

I'm considering dropping the hybrid and putting in a Cally 9 wood spinner.

I start my irons at 6 iron. I don't worry about hitting out of the woods, I can hood the 6 iron and get it out.

I need a consistent 175 club.

Thoughts ?

I love the thought. I have a qi35 7 wood and it’s amazing. Carries 235-240 and flies like a wedge. I’m tempted to put a 9 wood in.

9 wood with high apex and spin. Like a 175 yard wedge for you.

Dangerous club. Would recommend TaylorMade or Ping 9 wood.

Spinner may spin too much.

I am wondering about that as well.

Is it just marketing ?

Their propaganda says they raised the center of gravity which I thought would lower the flight ?

And they shortened the shaft.

Agree here. The TM Qi4D 9W that I have launches like a gap wedge. Really high apex and large descent angle. Love it for holding par 5s but I don't need anymore spin out of it. You can see it climb and climb and then just feather down. It already spins a ton. Put the Frost Blue shaft in it and it's a perfect replacement for my 4 iron. I saw that Callaway had the mini spinner and I guess it's for people that need extra spin with a fairway metal but those Pings and TMs don't need any extra imo.

I’m 38 and have zero shame having my AI Smoke 9W in the bag. It’s further than my 4 iron, launches higher, and more versatile from different lies & off a tee

I've considered swapping my 5 hybrid for a 9w.. I was at Edwin Saturday and saw that they had a couple of the mini spinners but didn't get a chance to hit one.. Although I don't need anymore spin I'd like to try it..

Biggest issue with high lofted woods is playing in windy conditions..

Get that misbehaving club out now!

As a club ho, I do not keep clubs that cannot be my friend, and there are always more than 14 so clubs know they are all performance based.

My fairway woods are mostly M2 from 2017.
5 wood is 21 degrees. 7 wood 24.
My 3 wood is a cobra LTDx 15.5 degree.

They have been my friends a vast majority of the time.

That is a concern and I do spin the ball.

Hybrids for me are usually such a disappointment . I tried sweeping them and hitting down on them and the results are either lukewarm or left

I guess that I need more research on 9 woods and there is always the 90 day return policy.

I built a T250 4 iron with an Axiom Graphite shaft that I switch out if it's super windy.

I'm a +3 and have added a 7W and 9W in the past 6 months, and don't regret it one bit. I can now be more aggressive on long par 3s and par 5s.

I did try the Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond balls this weekend. I was a club longer with full iron shots and still had nice stopping power with wedges. So it might be a ball to give a shot if you haven’t already

Agreed. I’ve been gaming this GT2 hybrid for about a year and it’s definitely been the most agreeable hybrid I’ve had so far. I needed something that would carry in the 205-210 range and stop because my home course has a par 5 with an island green and I always seem to be about that distance out with my average tee shot. It’s been pretty good but the left miss definitely comes out a bit more often than I like. So that’s why I’m thinking maybe switching it for a 9 wood. But all my shots are x flex so I just can’t go to a golf shop and buy a 9w with an appropriate shaft. Probably should just do a fitting and find something to dial in that range

The internet is a black hole of info and yeah that 90 day policy at Edwin I’ve almost abused in my pursuit of a better results..

Apex UW 23°. Just put one in my bag. Early testing is great. Will be essentially my 3.5 iron, then go to 5iron. Can hit it 225-230 or turn it left and get it out to 245-250. So far, super versatile and is neutral bias

It's actually a 2x trade in ($500 max bonus) on the new line of clubs. Hell of a deal if you have clubs to trade in.
