I personally prefer YSL L'Homme for the day and YSL La Nuit for evenings, but that has a lot to do with the fact that they are my wife's favorites, and I still like them and I don't find them overpowering but La Nuit pushes that a little for the first hour.

Well, she has good taste in cologne. Montblanc makes some good scents and they’re decently priced.
