I haven't been to NO since the late 90's and wife's never visited. We are staying in the Quarter. I want to hit iconic bars, and restaurants the locals love. Touristy things are fine too. So, so many options I'm finding online... please help.

Pierre misparos is a good little joint to eat at and get a drink.

I'd never heard of M.S. Rau. I geek out to Antiques Roadshow so I cannot miss this and it's a 5 minute walk from our hotel. A great recommendation, thank you.

I think a lot of people would say that Preservation Hall is a must.

Jesus Christ. This is why I've been having a hard time picking a few places to eat in the limited time we have. It ALL sounds good, I would have never picked an Italian place but I am 100% getting that Cioppino.

Places we enjoy as Northerners that we visit frequently (locals will probably have some better spots)
Food:
Ruby Slipper
Verti Marte
Lil' Dizzy's
Napoleon House
Felix's
Cafe' Beignet
Drinks:
Old Absinthe House
Finnegan's Easy
Erin Rose
The Jimani (not my fave but we have sentimental reasons)
Several spots on Frenchman

Did this thread start on the OT? I can usually tell based on the suggestions in it so far.
In the FQ, which i do recommend getting out of as much as possible:
Holywater might be the hottest new opening in the city in awhile
Galatoire's is a classic, note the strict-ish dress code
Killer Poboys
Jewel of the South
Palm & Pine
Mr. B's
Doris Metropolitan
Outside of the FQ:
Peche (a must imo)
Bacchanal: Wonderful wine spot with tapas, a beautiful backyard with live music. A NOLA institution at this point. Not far from FQ, take an Uber
Atchafalaya (for brunch!)
Cochon
Parkway Bakery (Poboys)
Cochon Butcher
St.Pizza
Forbidden Pizza
Evviva
The Bell
Delacroix
Dolfy's
Pigeon & Whale
The Husky (steakhouse)
Should be a wide selection of spots and neighborhoods, and types of cuisine

Thanks.
We are driving from Oklahoma. Visiting daughter in Plano, then one day in BR, will play a round at The Island in Plaquemine and have dinner at Poor Boy's Riverside Inn in Broussard. Next day, we stop at the Oak Alley plantation on the way to NO where we'll stay at the Monteleone for the weekend.
This is just a short food & drink trip more than anything, but I plan to see the WWII Museum and MS Rau. Thanks to everyone for the wonderful recommendations.

I didnt see Killer Po Boys listed but its spectacular and I think they are still open in the back of Erin Rose.

I ran across Killer Po Boys when researching before I made this thread. Thanks for confirming, it looks really good. You can't find a decent po boy in OK..

I would plan this in regards to where you will be. 2.5 days or so is a long time in the FQ.I don't think you need that long there.
I was with my kids, but we went to 3 or 4 different beignet places. We did Cochon Butcher for lunch the day we went to the WW2 museum as its just a block or 2 away.

Thanks. Next time, we will have more time. We've only got Friday evening through Sunday morning. Which sucks because there's so many places I want to eat.. I really appreciate all the recs.

Weather should be perfect for an Oak Alley visit.

Last visit to above, after being a loyal visitor for many years, left a lot to be desired. Spicer is no longer involved and hasn’t been for some time, but it’s really gone downhill. A shame.
