We have traveled to many places where there were iguanas. USVI, BVI, Puerto Rico and surrounding islands for example. They're very curious and will get close to you, but I've never heard of anyone getting bit or tail whipped by one that wasn't being agitated. I've heard that they will drop out of tree limbs near people, but they aren't aggressive. Never eaten iguana, but in some areas they call it "chicken of the tree."

Can confirm they will fall out of trees when it gets below like 42°. What you don’t want to do is put them in a catatonic state in a trash bag and place in your trashcan which is inside your garage. What you do want to do is grab an air rifle, garden clippers, or shovel and decapitate them.

I’m just giving you grief.

Dude. While some here may have seen only a few, I saw hundreds at Duck key. All sizes too. If lizards are a deal breaker, you may want to go to Colorado.

Here's my photo from when I was in Key West a few years ago:

All good. At this point it’s not changing. To the guy that said Colorado… I’d love to. She’s not into the cold. I could spend thanksgiving in Alaska. Her not so much. Lol

Stayed at the Isla Bella in Marathon last December and honestly can’t remember seeing any. Compared to Puerto Rico where they are like geckos it was nothing.
Saw a manatee playing in the marina next to us while kayaking which was super cool.

She's not into reptiles, nor the cold...

I see them get run over by vehicles all the time. If she really hates them, maybe you can take a day to just drive around and take them out.

Maybe she would be interested in sniping iguanas with air rifles. I see folks on YouTube doing a lot of that in Florida. Doing it from a boat on a canal looks like a blast.

Seems like your fiancé is showing you a giant red flag.

She will see a few, most likely, but they won't come up to her and try to kiss her or anything...

Just got back from a long weekend in KW and didn’t see a single one. Gecko’s and chickens out the wazoo yes, iguana’s, not a one.

I’ve been down there 3 times in last two years. Key West twice, Islamorada once. First Key West trip was in April and we saw quite a few but I’d compare them to squirrels in your yard. The next trip in Islamorada we saw 1 the whole time. That was in August. The last was Key West in December and there were significantly less. The chickens in Key West are WAY more prevalent.

We've been to Marathon once and KW twice in the last two years. We maybe saw one or two in KW, but we saw many more in Marathon. I like the analogy of a squirrel in the yard. That's pretty accurate.
