It's from all that fracking for fossil fuels they do up there....
I have a traditional IRA and a Roth IRA that I rolled over from my previous employers 401k.
It's good to have a mix of traditional IRA and Roth. Think of Roth is 100% owned by you while traditional is 20% owned by the government (or whatever your tax rate will be). As far as co...
Bama offering full ride
This term is often overused. Most people take it to mean that the student is attending the school for free. Is that the case? I've heard parents say that only to find out they must pay $15k/year for housing. Of course, going to Bama also means that the kid w...
I've worked with a few kids over the past few years with nearly perfect high school scores and grades. The best outcome, in my opinion, is for these students to attend the best school they can get into without going into debt. The sweet spot is getting a truly full ride with stipend at a top ...

What Browser Extensions are you using?

Posted by bazeball on 3/6/24 at 12:02 pm
I've been using Ublock Origin, Disconnect, GMail Checker, and Grammarly for a few years. Are there any basic browsing extensions that I am missing? This combination seems to keep the browser running pretty well. ...
Why are graduating seniors required to check this drop off of the to do list?
I filled out a form that stated that I was declining to fill out the FAFSA. This is a real thing, but you have to insist that you know what you are giving up. Also, keep in mind that a student can fil...

I've always said that a local news crew should just sit in the parking lot at a Wal-Mart and film the people who park in the handicap spots. Maybe stick a mic in their face and ask them about their disability. That would be great TV....
Time to invest in the company that makes Colo-Guard.
Numerous companies are working on blood tests to replace colonoscopies. Some are in phase 2 and 3 trials now. In 5-10 years, you will be able to be screened for colon cancer with a simple lab draw....
If kid didn’t qualify for tops, and not getting aid, any reason to fill it out?
No - you don't have to fill it out. There is a school of thought that if you're a real baller (like most of the OT), you may want to submit a FAFSA when your kid applies to a school so that the scho...
Pizza chains haven’t changed price in like 40 years. You can still get a basic one topping large for around $10. They make more money now thanks to all the tricked up crusts, wings and other sides that add $.
Fun fact: Domino's makes the majority of its money on its supply chain...
My observation is that the younger workers call in sick just before holidays. Our company put in a policy that says that an unplanned day off before a holiday means that you don't get holiday pay. Keep in mind, they can still take PTO before holidays, just not last-minute sick days. The young worker...
Not it is not. The business loses a 100 and product. The 100 is stolen out of the register, it is gone. When it is gone from the register you are not replacing the 100. The theif is paying you with stolen money. Gets stolen product and the change back. Again that 100 has been stolen and it ha...

I have two pairs of Captains, each about 3 years old. They are great boots. They are "designed in the USA, made in Mexico". I've found them to be great for the price....
There is way too much middle mgmt / administrative bloat and they are direly concerned with the bottom line.
OTOH, my experience in healthcare admin has taught me that when middle management is filled with RNs (as so much of it in healthcare is), the business will likely struggle. ...
The ironic thing is that - once again - the BCS would have handled this better than the stupid committee. Michigan and Washington would have gotten in and the gripes would have been much less. That said, I fully expect the 3 and 4 ranked teams to win in the semis. That should help quiet the comp...

The individual wallpaper is determined by the graphics card. You should be able to right-click the desktop and click personalize. Then pick slideshow (choose the appropriate directory below that) and choose "Fill" as the fit. That should rotate pictures on each screen. If you don't want them to rota...

re: Teaching child guitar?

Buy an acoustic first. A Taylor Big Baby model is a good one that is slightly smaller than normal, is easy to play, and sounds decent. Playing an acoustic will teach them the importance of proper technique. Starting on electric (what I did) leads to dependency on effects and lets sloppy playing slid...
