We really enjoy Marco Island beach. Stay at JW Marriott if you can.
We lived in homestead in the early to mid 80’s and would visit Marco occasionally. I went back 2 years ago and stayed in the Marriott. The kids said “this is the nicest hotel we’ve ever stayed in!”

I’d prob pick something on the national seashore of cape cod. But I’m more of a scenery /peace and quiet guy and have completely grown tired of the crowded Florida panhandle scene.

Just finished renovating my house on Sanibel and although weather hasn’t been great, I wish I was back there right now. January - late May down there is absolute perfection.
In related news, anyone interested in buying a house on Sanibel?

What do think is THE beach spot here domestically?

I like the St Marks area in Florida.

I've been to Hawaii, the Caribbean, the east coast and California and nothing beats the Florida Panhandle. The sand is so soft and the water is beautiful, can't beat it. I prefer Navarre Beach, it's not as commercial as Destin, Pensacola, Orange Beach or Gulf Shores.

I was in Sanibel Island and Fort Myers about 3 months ago, and there is still a lot of businesses closed, due to Hurricane Ian. Many hotels on Sanibel Island are still closed and Fort Myers Beach is still mostly shut down.
If you are looking for warm weather in the winter, you'll need to either go north toward Tampa. Siesta Key, Lido Key, Longboat Key. Anna Maria Florida is awesome.
If you go to the east coast of Florida, you can go to Miami for the most nightlife, fine dining, etc. If you go north 2 hours, you can go to Hutchinson Island. That is more laid back and MUCH less crowded. You will find plenty of good seafood, but it will be more casual (and less expensive). The beaches there won't be crowded and you'll have free parking (if you're not staying in a beachfront condo). Nightlife will consist of finding a Tiki bar with a band. Not much of a clubbing atmosphere.
Going from Hutchinson Island south to Miami, you have Jupiter, West Palm, Ft Lauderdale, then Miami. It gets more crowded and more expensive as you go south. Of course, south of Miami is Key Largo, and eventually, Key West. As someone mentioned, beaches in the Keys are hard to find, but the vibe is definitely beachy/tropical.

This is a good suggestion. Try to get there before June when the grass rolls in.
White sand.

Prettiest in terms of cliffs/rock? Northern California (Carmel, Half Moon Bay, many others)
Best human scenery? San Diego
be careful..These are great scenic spots but you need to own a wetsuit to get into these waters most of the summer, and that waters hella cold in the winter

Somewhere between Tampa and Fort Myers are the best beaches in America, including Hawaii...

If you go outside continental but still US then Trunk Bay, St. John. There are a couple of other great beaches on St. John as well.

Culebra and Cuebrita are awesome too, if you're going to be that close. There's a ferry.

The panhandle has the best beaches by far if you’re looking for quality sand and water.

If costs weren’t an issue, then probably Carlsbad or La Jolla.

For the cost of what 30a is charging now with flights I can do an all inclusive out of the country.
30a is beautiful but IMO Isla Mujeres and Caymans are the most beautiful I’ve been to that take just as long to get to. You can walk 200 yards out and have pool clear water up to your stomach

Those places are nice but not everyone wants to fly 6-7 hours out of the country to go visit some tiny isolated beach island. And not everyone wants to visit a beach located in a third world country where the government is basically an organized crime syndicate. Thanks but I’ll stick to FL beaches.
