NYC is always going to be the most preferred US city by internationals and it’s not close

80k capacity rule for a final eliminates all but MetLife and Dallas (not where anyone wants to be for this)

Because FIFA is so corrupt and US soccer is so woke so they were never giving it to Dallas or another red state even though it is by far the best option. Same reason why the US team only played at the left coast when Dallas, Houston and Atlanta made more sense.

Not why the US chose to play on the West Coast. It was strictly due to travel and schedule.

They got lucky …. in that it rained yesterday and scrubbed a lot of the wildfire smoke out of the air.

Was at the game. The least impressive of the venues where I followed Argentina. A hot, cramped, generic bowl of concrete set in the nondescript sea of New Jersey. Difficult to get to and exhausting to escape. Miami, Atlanta, KC, and Dallas all had features to commend them. Not so for Met Life. It's only advantage is proximity to Manhattan.
Atlanta was my favorite venue, for what it's worth.
The Final also had the worst atmosphere of any game I attended. Partially because it was a disjointed game and there was nothing to cheer for if you were an Argentina fan. But also because there were too many interlopers there who simply went for the cachet and had no connection to the match. They did not care about the outcome or the teams. Literally watched two (admittedly very attractive) women take selfies and make "content" the entire match. All 120 minutes.
The pre-game and half-time shows were wildly overdone, in my opinion.
All that said, the tournament overall was dramatic and brilliant, even though it ended in heartbreak for my team. Will be a long and arid wait for Spain/Morocco 2030.
