Who cares? The World Cup is a huge event. For some people it’s like the Olympics. How often do people watch most events at the Olympics? Not often. People just enjoy big World Wide type events.

Ok

You’re proving my earlier point. Dorks like you and the OP are so desperate to make soccer cool (finally) you say stupid shite like this.

No one I know has discussed watching a game. The WC is only mentioned in passing and even then it’s a one off comment just acknowledging current events.

Why does this anger you so much

The Premier League champion would dog walk the World Cup champion any time. Talent and chemistry for the top teams in the PL is unreal.
You could take the PSG team that was far better than Arsenal in the Champions League final, replace all the non-French players, and end up with a better team. It’s debatable if you’d even lose chemistry under Deschamps’ system and culture

To pretend Arsenal is dog walking Les Bleus is absurd. The inverse if anything

It doesn’t anger me at all

Idc what sports people like and dislike…to each their own

I was just pointing out the absurdity of you saying you don’t know anybody IRL that has watched the World Cup

I’ve been to a few Atlanta United games we get the club level tickets that are usually like $100 - $115 and include access to a big club room that has unlimited food and alcohol plus own bathrooms. It can be fun sometimes.

I'll watch some Premier League on Saturdays because there really is not much else on and that's if I'm not working outside.

I'd like to catch more MLS. Still think Fox should promote it more maybe showcasing it on Sunday afternoons with periodic doubleheaders. Maybe they are already doing it?

I know others have responded, but I feel like I have to as well. This take is not even close. Maybe if the only soccer you watch after is the MLS would this be true. I love the World Cup, but the talent on display is lower than the big leagues in Europe. Not only is the collection of players better in the big European leagues, but the play is better because the players train year round with each other instead of just a few weeks before the competition.

To be fair the mls is a terrible product and the fans of most teams make every game a damn pride festival so it turns off the casual sport fan. Soccer would be a lot more popular if the mls stopped being trash and a large percent of the fans could stop being weird fricks.

I purchased FM26 and am managing a D3 Jamaican club in the game. I think I’m gay for soccer now

Maybe.

But what hook is there for most US fans to care about those leagues?

I root for the Saints and Pelicans because they're the local teams.

The rise and fall of the ATL United is wild, year 1 sell outs and play off, year 2 sell outs and champ, since then it’s declining attendance and a shite team. I went to one game last year because our consultants had a box so it was free. The supporter section that use to be full the first 2 years was bare other than 2 rows yet they managed a rainbow flag.

I did after the 2014 world cup. That's what hooked me and now I love the sport. Became a big Chelsea fan.

You don’t grow the game by increasing casual viewers who have no emotional investment into soccer. You grow the game by increasing the kids playing the game, who then become casual viewers along with some parents. That’s the target audience: kids watching these matches(especially the US team) and saying, “i want to play soccer”

That’s my issue. I will watch a match here and there but don’t have a rooting interest and don’t really have the time or energy to develop one.

Interesting. It’s huge here in Birmingham.

Legitimate question, why are you posting on the soccer board if you have zero connection to the sport?

This thread started on a different board. I have no interest in this board. I posted when this thread was started on the MSB by the unfortunately all too predictable and typical gate keeping American soccer fan

I’m sure it is in a lot of places. It’s a passing fad for most.

A lot of the ownership groups in MLS are realizing they need to chill with the homo shite which is good. Big headwind nobody is talking about though is going to be the new MLS schedule is going to have the games competing with football for eyeballs. I’m not sure if that is something you can overcome as a league.
