But it wasn't, which is why this is being seen as a ridiculous decision and corruption.

Bad red cards happen all the time, you get over it and move on.

I guess I’m biased but the fact it was a ridiculous decision in the first place makes me not care if it was a ridiculous decision to fix it

Not to mention the improper use of VAR when reviewing the foul in the first place

Yeah, I do, because he's taking credit for it, because until today FIFA was standing by its process. Like I said, I'm pumped that Balogun can play.

But, I still think having a politician get involved with how the rules of the game are enforced sets a bad precedent.

Precedent? You think FIFA is now corrupted because of Trump or something? That ship sailed long ago, and never stopped sailing.

No one is saying FIFA wasn’t corrupt, but remember when Trump ran on the platform that he wasn’t a corrupt politician that didn’t associate with corrupt organizations?

.......and? US hosted in 1994 and the event was an unbelievable success and the US was bounced by Brazil in the first knockout thanks to FIFA officials not red carding a Brazilian player for thinking he was free to throw his elbow at the head of the US player...on purpose.

They'll make even more money this time. Politics will be involved inasmuch as there is money to be made. Why have a country's President allegedly get involved in internal rule enforcement?

If this had happened against the US, I would be mad for about 3.50 seconds then move on with my life. We are so used to getting screwed by CONCACAF in FIFA it's expected at this point.

Maybe we have arrived.

It would be like a President strong arming the NCAA because his favorite player was called for an intentional foul / targeting in the 4th quarter of a semi final that was questionable at best.

It is nothing like this.

I doubt that considering we are still talking about Torsten Frings and Coulibaly.

LSU fans still talk about Devin White targeting and PP foot inbounds.

Sports fans wear shite like this for a long time. If Balo scores in a US win tomorrow (please sweet baby Jesus) Belgium fans will be talking about this for a while

This should have been sorted out days ago, so I can see why Belgium would be pissed. However, I’d rather play, and possibly beat, a team that isn’t missing a key player. I don’t want the footnote or asterisk tied to the game, but that’s just me.

Shouldn’t we all be happy FIFA was finally held accountable, regarding the use of refs/var? Just didn’t think it would be a trump

Bad red cards are overruled and appealed all the time in soccer. FIFA doesn’t have an official appeals process, instead they have this “suspended sentence” workaround.

Balogun is the only player all wc to be sent off due to VAR review. It’s because the VAR ref fricked up the process. So we should just lose a player for an extra game for no reason even in the face of an objective frick up?
