Sam's Club still employs them and they also have employees make food in the bakery instead of frozen.
Where I live, we have a Harps and both the deli and bakery is superior than Walmart but quite a bit more expensive.

I have a Sam's Club membership, but rarely go because it's always fricking packed. I will say I absolutely love the scan and go feature!

Select Walmart, Kroger... will move to pick up only.

Just was bitching as we stopped by a Walmart and they had 36 spots for pickup. Wasn’t a super Walmart either.

What are they doing? Adapting. And keeping up with Amazon. Spark orders use those spots too. Loosen the tin foil hat.

You get more bang for your buck at Sam's than Walmart.
The food court is very cheap especially the hotdog combo.

They’re expanding grocery delivery in your area. But by all means buy more toilet paper.

Dollar General and Dollar Tree are bigger threats.

They don't want you going in the stores anymore. Get enough folks doing pick up and you can decrease interior associates.
Shoplifting as well.

Should follow the Kroger model. Where I live, there isn’t a Kroger within 150 miles, but they have dedicated refrigerated box trucks out making local home deliveries. I assume they have dedicated warehouse space somewhere in the area where they are running these trucks out of.

Are we headed for a serious recession and Walmart is getting out front of it. If we do have a recession, people will be stealing everywhere.

Same thing at the Walmart in Kenner. About 1/3 of the parking lot is dedicated for pickup now.
When I was in Colorado, we got the same thing in Colorado Springs a year and a half ago. Of the about 20 parking spaces they had for it, they were still never filling more than a quarter of it. Weird.

If you did or go into the store there in no chance of shop lifting…… just saying
Also, for pick up orders they have your money up front…..

I work at Walmart. My wife is a manager of the digital department of my store as well.
Let’s get a few things straightened out.
1. Walmart does not pay minimum wage. Not by a long shot. I live in rural Alabama and started at $14 and am at $15 3 years later. My wife makes $24 plus bonuses. So no “minimum wage” worker is picking your stuff
2. Walmart didn’t get rid of butchers because “they wanted raises.” It was because they got together and decided to unionize. That u word is a big no no there.
3. The parking spots have nothing to do with expecting another pandemic. It’s about the future of the business. It wouldn’t surprise me if they wanted to eventually close all the stores for walk in traffic. There has been no mention of anything like that, but they learned a lesson from K-Mart. They are constantly looking towards tomorrow rather than today. They are expecting pickup to take a majority of their business moving forward. This is why when stores get remodeled (as mine recently did) many get a huge room built and tons of dedicated parking spaces.
A lot of what’s on the app isn’t actually shipped and sold by Walmart. Like Amazon, it consists of a lot of 3rd party vendors. They are planning on using store back rooms and digital rooms to hold select 3rd party items their AI suggests are sold most often per area.
It’s simply thinking about tomorrow’s market. They don’t want to get caught flat footed like K-Mart
