My local Walmart has set aside 57 parking spots for pickup. They've had black trash bags over the signs for the last couple of weeks. This is in addition to the absurd number of dedicated pickup spots they already have and do not utilize 10% of. Are they prepping for another pandemic? Anybody else seeing this? They don't have enough employees to service what they currently have, much less 57 more.

You nailed it.

And they would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for you pesky kids.

No one will want to go out once the Government tells us there are Lizard people about.

On line, pre-paid orders only. They've had enough of the thieving.

My wife works in the pandemic planning department at our local Walmart. I’ll ask her when she gets home from work. She did mention they were putting out black trash bags today.

Same thing at the Walmart in Kenner. About 1/3 of the parking lot is dedicated for pickup now.

AI tells us:

Walmart has dedicated a large number of parking spots to pickup orders to meet the high demand for their online grocery service, increase operational efficiency in loading orders, and improve the overall customer experience by making pickup faster and more convenient.

High Demand: The rapid expansion of online grocery shopping has required more dedicated space, with locations often needing dozens of spots to accommodate numerous customers at busy times.

Operational Efficiency: Dedicated, numbered spots allow staff to deliver orders directly to cars quickly, avoiding delays in the pickup process.

Customer Convenience: By placing these spots near the store entrance, it provides quick, safe access for customers who prefer not to enter the store, including the elderly or those with mobility issues.

I predict most people will ignore these signs and park there anyway. This is either something fishy or just a boneheaded management decision.

They don't want you going in the stores anymore. Get enough folks doing pick up and you can decrease interior associates.

I’d rather use pickup than deal with idiots in the store. Just went in a bit ago and it was swarmed because of last minute Mother’s Day

Don’t panic until you see four aisles stocked with toilet paper.

Just park in one. Not like it’s a handicapped spot.

True, and they’ve already cut staffing considerably now that 75% of check out lanes are self-check out. They offer free home delivery as well. They don’t want people loitering around in droves inside the store.

They're doing the opposite here (NC). They just reduced the self checkout by 50% and beefed up the regular lines. Dumbass people still line up at the self checkout when the regular lines have almost no wait. I just left there and at least 80% of the cashier lines were open.

Walmart is controlled by some bad people. They are also very political and part of the corrupt system. They stopped carrying Mike Lindell's products simply because he was a vocal, high-profile supporter of President Trump.

There's 2 things I do that I dont feel good about. One is that I mostly shop at Wal-mart because 1) they're very close to me, and 2) they carry everything, unlike much smaller stores like Dollar General. I actually like Dollar General, but they are small stores and don't sell everything.

The 2nd thing I do that I don't feel good about is Amazon. I don't trust Amazon, but they are so darn convenient.
