After 32 sessions of radiation treatment for prostate cancer, I got to know the therapists pretty well. One told me, mid way through, that she was having to work more, longer shifts because the ranks behind her, fresh out of school, were performing at a very poor rating. And " their mistakes often involved wrong doses of radiation around male genitals ". It's not just M.D.s who are getting promoted way beyond their capabilities.

I took the ACT with no intent of going to college. Just wanted to show up my college bound friends. Scored a 33 the morning after being locked up the previous night for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Got bailed out by dad an hour before the test and moon walked all over that test. Later in life I did some other amazing stuff. Like you, I am a badass. Let’s get a beer one day and brag to each other some more about our accomplishments.

I agree. Unless things have changed since I took the MCAT 30+ years ago, I have never heard of anyone taking the MCAT other than to get into medical school

Nope, I'm also not a born skeptic nor an internet troll looking to cause problems. ahem.

20 years after completion of 1st BS degree went for a 2nd BS. Part of the Clinical Selection Process was Score on the MCAT and I was highest score of the clinical applicants, 3rd highest in the nation (according to professors (plural)) for that year.

For those who doubt, that's on you. I don't have any reason to lie on the interwebs. It's not like I'll ever meet any of you or that any of you will influence my life with other than brands/items as a US based consumer customer.

At the time you took the MCAT it was 45 point scale. There is not enough resolution in the scoring nor do they further stratify the people who got a 44 for example. Secondly they don't publish a ranking of who scored 1, 2, 3. You and your professor are full of shite.

The mcat is scored based on percentile, not individually as you claim. There is no way to say you scored 3rd highest in the nation. Also, even if you did take the mcat, the radiologists that you worked for scored higher, and I’d be willing to bet almost anything on that based on your overall tone of the subject.

This only occurs in academia, out in private practice no one cares where you got your MD

You’d be surprised, compared to the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s getting into med school is the academic Olympics. Many of the middle aged attendings wouldn’t even receive a med school interview had they applied now. If you don’t fall in the DEI category you need to be elite to get into an MD school, you can however go to a DO school

Justice and sanity would dictate that both of these fricking quacks would lose both their licenses and jobs for even thinking this stupid shite.

The job of medical schools is to admit classes of students who empirically show the potential to be intelligent competent medical professionals, period.

The medical profession jumped the shark with covid and the vax. You can only trust the ones you know, and the benefit of the doubt for them is gone. They have destroyed their own profession.

Your grandson needs to kill it, get a gpa of 3.9+ and mcat 90th percentile with solid extra curriculars and he’ll get in somewhere. Also, radiation oncology is a dying field, he should do radiology if he wants to be a doc, totally not biased

My doctor is a white male who graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine. Do you realize how smart a white male has to be just to be accepted into an accredited, recognized medical school in the USA?

Everyone here jokes, but insurance companies will (and are already) saying who you can and cannot see. Go private practice if you have the choice

Took the MCAT literally 20 years later to enter clinicals for a 2nd degree and without even knowing anything about the content or format until 15 minutes before the test scored the 3rd highest in the nation that year.
The MCAT isn't ranked, dumbass. Percentiles or quartiles or w/e idr, but all they tell you is you got 99th percentile, nothing more specific. I got the 2nd highest score possible on the writing sample, but I have no idea now how many others beat or tied with me.

Also, you're not scoring well on the MCAT taking it cold. It is infinitely more likely that you aren't even smart enough to know what test you took, that you are lying, or that the guy who told you at the bar that he was grading the MCAT tests was lying to you in bed.

I want the doc in Idiocracy to be the Surgeon General.

You can get that now, go to a state that has independent NP or CRNA practice. Yes the DEI crap is bad, but mid levels practicing independently of docs, as docs, when they didn’t go to med school is incredibly dangerous.

There's not one. Even when I went back to school to work on a PhD in a biophysics are, they made no mention even of MCAT, wanted me to retake the GRE so I'd have one more recent. You don't take the MCAT to get into clinical studies. It's really a scientific literacy test, testing you to see how well you can study science courses and communicate (until they ditched the writing sample). GRE shows more English and analytical skills so you have a broader, but less deep set of skills.
