I have heard this on many occasions and no one in the media challenges it, and I heard it again from some "expert" on china this morning on Maria.
The US has a far larger military than china presently, far far greater. china's budget (latest figures 2016) was 145 billion and ours is around 750 billion. Where did these experts study math??????

Given the amount of waste in the pentagon budget and the cost of manufacturing things in China with slave labor...I wouldn’t do a dollars to dollars comparison.

ours is around 750 billion.
500 billion of that is spent on making tanks in Ohio because a senator was good at getting pork.

Where was it under Obama?
Having served in US Army and coming from a family that has served back to great grandparents, Obama was an existential threat. (How the left missuses that phrase.)

Yea, but the difference is that China spends 135 of that 145 on actual, efficient production. The US spends about 90 of that 750 on actual, efficient production.

Isn’t it much “larger” already, not that that means shite

Larger military as in how many people? Okay that’s cute.

Yea this def won't happen unless a president gets elected here who disassembles half of ours

In what world is China, or any communist nation efficient?

The Chinese shipyards are a marvel.
They just churn out new ships.
The Chinese have many weaknesses, limitations, and vulnerabilities. It’s much cheaper to play catch up though, than it is to maintain and build a cutting edge force.
Such as we have one.

larger military
What does "larger" mean? They already have a "larger" military. They have over a billion people.
Size doesn't matter in the military game. The USA is decades ahead of China in advanced arsenal and abilities.

You have to take in account that their soldiers, workers and scientists are paid a LOT less then their counterparts in America and Europe. They also steal technologies so they save money on r&d. Put it all together, they don't have to spend as much as we do. As an example, a M1A2 tank cost $6 million, while the Chinese Type 99 main battle tank is estimated to cost $2.6 million.

Larger does not equal better.
The Chinese may have numbers and they may even have good hardware here and there... but they lack experience, which is possibly the most important advantage in war. Their soldiers, officers, and commanders are all a bunch of greenhorns compared to the US.

We have some bad dudes. Unfortunately, we have some very hardened, experienced guys. But that is certainly a huge advantage when the shite hits the fan. No one wants the USA as an adversary.

What these expert neglect is the US militia - the people who would be willing to die if our mainland was ever attacked who also are very well armed.
