Only a reduction to zero in the significance of air power will mean the end of the aircraft carrier.

I'm curious to know what you see as superior for protecting sea lanes and controlling territory.
If you’d read the thread then you would know.

I saw some of your usual bullshite, but nothing useful.

Probably better that you moved to the part-time Army.

You've never actually said anything on this board. You’re shtick is boring.

Smaller carriers. That's the most "useful" thing you've said here.

Check out what they are doing in South America and Trinidad and Africa.

You either have an agenda, are not paying attention, or have a severe defect of geography.

It has gotten to the point where the cvw is nothing more than self defense for the cvn. In other words, carriers are a huge liability with no redeeming value offensively.

Sure, if you're clueless about warfare.

Given the amount of waste in the pentagon budget and the cost of manufacturing things in China with slave labor...I wouldn’t do a dollars to dollars comparison.

Not to mention it has been easy for China, since they have stolen technology from us, a lot of times without people even realizing they are giving away secrets!

Your logic is stuck in the 80's bro
yeah, cyber warfare, space warfare and directed energy weapons are soooo 80's. that's why the us and china are racing to implement them.

you seem dense

My point is that the carriers suck up a lot of assets that would be better used in a different role
they were built almost exclusively to protect carriers and their assets. what are these other roles you are referring to?

the leadership of the Navy grew up with them.
it seems like you're trying to read minds here. they keep them because they are useful particularly with regards to projecting fighter aircraft which are crucial to air superiority

Better alternatives that are cheaper and more survivable
as i have pointed out, the alternatives can't launch fighters from mobile platforms

cyber and space warfare do not protect sea lanes or control territory
they are absolutely part of the picture.

laser induced sound waves

Written by career naval aviators and defense contractors that want to sell 13B dollar carriers
that also happen to be correct. not sure why you didn't mention that part

In terms of troops numbers, they’ve had a larger military for a long time. But our troops are better.

They’ve had a larger military force than we have for our entire existence.

Wtf is the point of this thread?

not all aircraft would be hypersonic. but no doubt, carriers would be less crucial in next gen warfare.

right now they are sinking so much money into naval assets that will have diminished usefulness in next gen warfare. granted, they are also working on space/laser warfare but, they are wasting tons of money and resources trying to keep up.

this should help explain to people why trump's stance with china is so important. they cannot be allowed to continue committing industrial espionage unchecked. that's where the real battle is right now. he seems to be making headway.
