That's when being convicted of a felony meant you were a very bad person. Times have changed and now felon statutes are used to remove 2nd Amendment rights but no other.
I pray it is televised globally!!

If I am not mistaken he is going to be executed at an Army base. The public won't be anywhere near the festivities. Ready! Aim! BANG!!!

Having known some of the victims, it would be entirely appropriate to rent a nfl statium, and sell tickets.
Fk this guy. I wish I could fire the shot.

This has the potential to incite extremist violence, and certainly will make him a martyr to radical Islam.
At trial he requested the death penalty. This is just giving him what he wants.

No. Nidal Hasan was not given a formal choice of his punishment, nor did he request a specific form of it during the sentencing phase of his court-martial.
In August 2013, a military jury of 13 officers convicted Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder for the November 5, 2009, Fort Hood (now Fort Cavazos) shooting that killed 13 people and wounded dozens more.
The same panel then sentenced him. Under the rules for a capital court-martial, the jury had to be unanimous for a death sentence; otherwise, the automatic alternative was life in prison without parole. The panel recommended death (along with dismissal from the service and forfeiture of pay) after brief deliberations.

Hasan represented himself. He admitted being the shooter, presented essentially no defense at trial, called no witnesses, and offered no mitigating evidence or argument in the sentencing phase—his contribution there was simply “The defense rests.” He made no formal request to the panel for death, life, or any other outcome.

Observers, his standby counsel, and reporting at the time noted that his minimal participation appeared consistent with a desire for martyrdom. In 2010 statements to a military sanity board (later publicized), he said that if he died by lethal injection he “would still be a martyr,” and he had previously indicated that death during the attack itself would have been an honor. Prosecutors addressed this directly in closing, arguing that execution would not make him a martyr. His former lawyers had sought to present mitigation evidence over his objections, but the judge allowed him to control his own defense.

Before trial, Hasan had sought to plead guilty (which military rules prohibit in capital cases), an action some interpreted as an attempt to avoid the death penalty. The court did not allow it. The death sentence later went through the full military appellate process, was upheld, and was approved by the President in 2026, with an execution date set (by firing squad under then-applicable regulations). That process determined the method of carrying out the existing sentence; it was not a choice or request by Hasan at the time of sentencing.

In short, the military jury imposed the death sentence according to the evidence and the law. Hasan did not select or formally request the form of punishment in court, though his conduct and prior statements led many to conclude he welcomed death for ideological reasons.

I understand that the members of the firing squad are going to bid for the live round.

I remember people tailgating for the Pee Wee Gaskins execution in Columbia back in the day. We had a blast especially when the hearse rolled out the gate.
