It is not in Max’s best interest to just drive off into the sunset. He needs to keep everybody close together and hope something weird happens. He’s not gonna get in the car to just drive 58 laps with Lando in his mirror.
I think Oscar’s last chance at the championship was to out qualify Lando and he didn’t get it done. I would think that was the end of the papaya rules for this season. Team will probably tell him slot into third at the start and let’s bring this thing home. Good season we will try again next year.

If McLaren doesn’t finish the job, where would it rank on the all time sports collapse list?

Worse than the Yankees collapse in the 04 ALCS?

Worse than the 73 win Warriors not winning the championship?

Worse than 2014/2015 Kentucky basketball going 38-1?

Greg Norman or Jordan Speith Sunday meltdowns at the Masters?
The McLaren boys seem rattled, or nervous, or stressed. They both have cancelled media spots with their home countries media that they normally do. To focus on the job is the reason they gave.

Max is not bothered at all. Said “the trophy looks the same, I already have 4 of them at home”

I’m still hoping Lando can get the job done, but if not him would rather see Max complete the comeback.
I wish Yuki would have stayed in the RB this season just to see the Hadjar-Yuki head to head. Think it would have been one of the better inter team battles to watch. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hadjar ends up being the best of this rookie class.

If Max wins the title this week, it will be the first time since Vettel in 2010 where the championship driver never led the standings until after the last race.

That actually makes sense. Kind of the Redbull formula, use an F1 team to sell merchandise. Wonder how much of their yearly budget is covered by merch sales.
Ferrari has been the surprise of the season for me. Didn’t expect them to go from finishing a close second to fourth. If things finish how they are now, Williams and Ferrari will be right next to each other in the pit lane next season.
It was reported a few weeks ago that Oscar would miss FP1 in Abu Dhabi, wonder if that makes an impact

Max and Redbull just don’t miss. If you give them a chance to win they win.
Piastri is pissed off.
Seems like all the pressure today is on Oscar. Both of his title rivals starting right behind him. If he loses first place to Lando then I think the championship is over.

Ted just said on his notebook that Hadjaar has been told he will be at Red Bull next year. Yuki has been told also. Racing Bulls second seat hasn’t been finalized but looking like Lindblad. Yuki will be left out.
Yuki got outta Max’s way real quick
Is practice 1 only airing in Spanish?
If Max wins this title he will have definitely earned it.

Same for Lando tho, nobody has given him anything. It’s been a rocky road for him since the beginning of the season and it’s only going to get more intense down the stretch. The head games Max, Jos, and Marko are gonna be playing for the next two weeks could potentially be major distractions. If Lando manages to get the job done it will be well earned.
How about Kimi Antonelli. Started 17th, finished the race in 5th, promoted to 4th, and then promoted to 3rd. His second Grand Prix podium of the year I think. He will probably win rookie of the year but Hadjaar should get some serious consideration.
