Odd timing for sure to announce that far out. I know GP said he didn’t want to be anyone else’s race engineer. Seems like Red Bull was looking to promote him recently.
They also just had a mechanic that had been with them since 2005, been to every Grand Prix suddenly quit.
Here’s who has already left Red Bull:
2025
Adrian Newey (Chief Technical Officer)
Jonathan Wheatley (Sporting Director)
Christian Horner (Team Principal)
Michael Manning (Control Systems Engineer)
Tom Hart (Performance Engineer)
David Mart (Power Unit Engineer)
Matt Kohler (Chief Mechanic)
Helmut Marko
Honda (end of partnership)
2026
Will Courtenay (Chief Strategist)
Craig Skinner (Chief Designer)
Gary Butters (Gearbox Specialist)
Ole Schäck (Senior Mechanic)

Lance Stroll is going to race GT3 cars this weekend.
“ Stroll will race in this weekend's GT World Challenge Europe season opener at Paul Ricard for Aston Martin squad Comtoyou Racing, sharing an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with sometime F1 driver Roberto Merhi and Aston Martin F1 academy driver Mari Boya.”

If tweet fails to load, click here. They have blamed some of this on developing last years car so deep into the season but Wache might lose his job.

They are believed to leave hundreds of millions of dollars on the table every year. The concession stand prices stay low.
They make zero dollars in TV rights, they give the rights away to ESPN on Thursday and Friday and then CBS for the weekend. This allows them to get full control of the broadcast. They limit sponsors and only run 4 minutes of commercials an hour compared to 20 minutes per hour for other PGA events. NBC pays $93 million for broadcast rights for the US Open.

That’s what I got from that. The rules dictate weight balance. I think generally around 45% of the total weight has to be on the front axle.
The design of their chassis and engine didn’t allow them to reach this without adding unnecessary weight.

Red Bull isn’t just over weight. They messed up their center of gravity or weight distribution calculations and have actually had to add weight ballast to areas of the car to get the balance within regulations. Does not sound like something easy to fix.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Now, there’s a regulation in Formula 1. It’s been around forever. It’s very simple and far reaching. The driver must drive the car alone and unaided. [..] The driver shouldn’t have any surprises by a self-learning car. They’ve got to get rid of that. I’m sure it’s not the work of a moment, but you know, the power delivery must be proportional to what the driver is doing with the throttle. That’s a fundamental. It has to be linear. It’s a big issue for the FIA."

I think they will figure out some tweaks to make it better this season and then some bigger changes to get us thru the next few years. In the long run this debacle might be a good thing, might be just what we need to force them into doing away with the hybrid all together. Hopefully they go for V8s burning synthetic fuels starting in 30 or 31.

I think the message has been sent loud and clear and received. I don’t think there is a quick answer tho, prolly stuck with some version of this for a couple seasons.

I think they have said Apple was gonna air a couple races this year for free. I assume that means you would still use the Apple+ app but wouldn’t need an account. I saw Montreal was one they were expected to air for free, no word on Miami.

I think the move away from the ground effects cars has been great for the racing. They can actually get near each other and follow each other. Also as someone else mentioned, when they do lose traction it doesn’t immediately go to zero and put the car into a spin. A decent engine would make this very successful.

I haven’t seen it but movie reviewers are really showing their true colors on this one. It’s not about being entertaining, it’s gotta push the agenda. This guy gave Mario a 0 and Emilia Perez a 10.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Formula 1 has prepared 6 measures for the meeting that will take place next week, in order to solve the issues saw in the first 3 race
- Increse the power of super clipping (frmo 250kW to 350kW)
- Reduce energy consumption so that it does not run out so quickly
- Reduce the maximum recharge per lap to 6MJ
- Unrestricted use of active aerodynamics, meaning it can be activated at any point on the circuit
- Increase the ICE/MGU-K ratio (at the earliest from 2027 onwards)
- Simplify the rules to give the drivers more control
