They accomplish the same effect with less consequence by shutting down the Straight.

Serious question: do they have the capability to do that?

Why? The threat is enough for their goals

Sinking one of their neighbors tankers would probably get everyone in the region rat packing Iran and anything Iranian. The neighbors would probably light up all that stored oil and delete Kharg island.

I just need to understand Iran "shutting down the strait", Does this qualify as shutting down......

quote:

Sunday (June 21): 5 to 12 vessels transited the strait, with many remaining vessels disabling their tracking transponders to avoid detection.

Saturday (June 20): 26 to 55 transits were recorded as ships attempted to clear the area

Iran's Arab neighbors have been proven to be pretty impotent in this war. Their militaries suck.

But there is certainly a MAD scenario. That scenario is very, very bad for the state of humanity on Earth.

Just look at the shipping traffic. It's public information.

Why would a country who sells oil want to blow up oil tankers? Especially if they're full. That's just a bad business move

Nothing of the sort.

Iran sinks tanker

Arab Gulf states his Iran's petro infrastructure

Iran levels multiple desalinization plants and the petro structure of multiple Arab Gulf States.

This would disrupt petro necessary for the world economy without any relief for years. That's a doomsday scenario for the current state of humanity on Earth.

Compare those numbers to the numbers of vessels that transited the Strait before the start of the war. There’s a significant difference.

What I can tell you from personal experience, one of the desal plants in Iraq has been absolutely crippled as a result of this blockade/shutdown/whatever you want to call it.

Now, once again, millions of people are being left out in the cold because their tankers can't pass the Strait.

Everyone promoting Trump celebrated the June 20 data, and that is about half the 2025 rates

The fact that Saturday's rates were cut by 80% isn't a great sign that the SOH is "open". That's 20% of 50% of 2025 rates.
