It takes more than a year to build most refineries, WITH the standard flow of oil. If Iran took out dozens of them in the Gulf at the same time, it would take a long time to rebuild them (and that's assuming there wasn't further conflict over petro globally)

Some people only see what they're looking for.

There are plenty of things the United States does well and several that we do better than any country in the world.

That doesn't mean we don't make mistakes. Many of our foreign involvements have been mistakes. That seems pretty obvious.

what % of your posting would you say is pointing out the plenty of things the US does well

what % of your posting would you say in pointing out when "we" make mistakes.

you are the most anti-US poster in this room.

that's being honest

By not dividing up this into smaller concepts than "the US", doesn't this mean Republicans and MAGA-types did exactly what you're describing for 8 years under Obama? They were anti-US in that time by being critical of the admin, correct?

It's just sloppy phrasing and potential dishonesty.

Criticizing bad policy from gov =/= criticizing "America"

Me too.

Well, let me alter my previous statement. You might have above average booksmarts, but you have zero common sense and a tremendous amount of cognitive dissonance.

I love when people play this card

I'd say common sense is don't get involved with wars that are of no benefit to the people of the United States

"Republicans and MAGA-types did exactly what you're describing for 8 years under Obama? They were anti-US in that time by being critical of the admin, correct?"

some of them were. I wouldn't want to paint with that broad of a brush. I'd have to see what each individual poster was posting at the time to make a judgement.

In the case of Powerman currently that judgement is easy

Being anti Trump is one thing. When you allow it to bleed over into a place where you can't even say something positive about the US (or you pay lip service to it) you are not anti Trump you are anti US

Powerman has demonstrated to me he is the most anti-US poster in this room. Granted it's a small list. But he's at the top.

that's being honest.

I've been following the Iran war situation because the outcome will be consequential.

My current stance is we made a mistake starting the war and I would like to see us conclude this peacefully. I would also like to see the Israel/Lebanon conflict come to a closure.

In fact my stance is exactly that of the administration right now. How I want to see things play out is exactly how Trump and Vance want to see things play out.

If you think that's anti American you have some explaining to do.

I know it's hard for you to come with something positive you have said about the US. I know the above is an attempt to distract from that.

you wanted honesty.

you are the most anti US poster in this room.

that's being honest.

If you don't want honesty don't claim you do.

If you don't want to be the most anti US poster in the room stop being that.

As a poster that was here through the Obama years let me explain - it was 8 years of constant bitching. To the point where it was almost comical. There were daily meltdowns.

If you view constructive criticism as bitching then you can't be reasoned with.
