Why does the left have a random “libertarian” streak against flock cameras? Feels phony

The left had no issue forcing everyone to lock down, require vaccine passports, mask toddlers, tracking down midwestern chemo patient grannies
But now they are randomly howling about the flock cameras
I don’t have extremely strong opinions on these cameras specifically, mostly because the surveillance state is already here and in our pockets and every where already
Libertarians have been a joke, and don’t ever get anything accomplished, so I’m weary of their bit as well
I’m mostly just cynical about people’s motivations. No one is throwing away their iPhones or giving up their social media. But now these cameras are the random hill they want to die on

My guess is that they think it will turn up their foot soldiers committing crimes, on their behalf or otherwise.

Right doesn’t like them because they are the antithesis of small government.
Left doesn’t like them because it will lead to more of their pet hooligans catching charges.

The left lives in a world which requires a person to suspend belief. Live cameras tend to run counter to that argument.

I actually would like to unwind a lot of the surveillance technology, but it’s too late at this point

Every now and then, there is a policy overlap between Democrats and Libertarians. It’s very rare. I’d say less than 10% of the time we agree with them on anything. And of that 10%, they are almost always civil liberty issues.

I assume it has to do with fear about them helping ICE identify illegals and something about "overpoliced communities", among other leftist issues.

From what I have seen, law enforcement is mainly abusing them to settle personal issues.
