Because it captures and records what takes place on a public street. A person with a notepad could do the same thing. This isn’t a privacy issue in my opinion. I do see the surveillance state concerns but frankly that’s the reality of modern life. If you want to stop the flock cameras, call your local legislator. I would rather capture criminals than ban flock cameras though.

You should never give an inch to the government. I don’t have anything to hide but flock is a slippery slope to a surveillance state. Right now they “only take images of license plates”, eventually they will be on every street with big brother watching you live.

I have no reasonable expectation of privacy when Bills Pharmacy or whoever has a stand alone camera at their store but this goes way beyond that. Automated cameras that are continuously identifying and tracking movements across cities/counties/states is a completely different thing. Stand alone cameras cant detail your day to day patterns and store them in a cloud somewhere.

I have no problem with a citizen doing this, my problem is it’s the government. I 100% agree with there is no expectation of privacy in public. How come the government doesn’t like citizens filming them?

There it is. The ole mention crimes being solved to try and appeal to emotion over logic. Police have solved crimes for decades without a dragnet surveillance system tracking the entire population.

Do you have evidence these cameras have made an appreciable difference in criminal apprehensions?
List (5) such instances. I reply with (50) times the cameras were abused by law enforcement (that we know of).

Not only has Flock been around for years, but the technology in various forms has been around for DECADES.
Also, going to be a lot of hurt feelings when the agitators discover a lot of the ANPR technology is software based. A good camera helps, but that's a lot of it.
I'm a fan of it. The local police here have used it with great success. Don't have stats, but stolen cars and such are recovered regularly from its use from the PD's social media posts.

Think about great these Flocks would have been in 2020 to help in the enforcing of government mandated lockdowns
