Why does it feel like we’re letting Iran dictate everything to us?

I wish we would have finished the job and completely destroyed all their military installations and deposed their government months ago. They continue to stall and to refuse to negotiate in good faith like they always have.
There’s no negotiating with terrorists. Their goal is the destruction of the USA and Israel, and there’s no negotiating around that. Their mindset is radical, nonsensical, irrational, and blinded by hatred. You can’t negotiate with someone like that. All you can do is speak their language by using force to destroy them.

Because we are letting them dictate terms to us.

Because a superpower that acts like a clown circus doesn’t intimidate a non -superpower
Posted on 7/1/26 at 12:59 pm to cbree88
Because the MSM is providing the dictation.

Because we’re so busy ripping ourselves apart internally that we are incapable of presenting a credible, unified ultimatum (or following up on it).
Iran knows, and we know, that US foreign policy resets every two years depending on who controls which lever(s) of the US government. They, and everyone else, have figured out that all they need to do is wait.

Because the voting public, for the most part, is very simple-minded, and kicking the conflict down the road past the midterms polls better than $5 gallon gas.

They aren't dictating anything to us. We have destroyed their nuclear program, have complete control of the SoH and have them literally quaking in their boots since we have forced them to surrender billions of dollars and instituted regime change at will.

Orange is desperate to lower gas prices for the midterms so he is giving away the house.

Because Trump is trying to manage a war based on the stock market and midterm polling

Correct.
This is where Trump’s successes in business come back to haunt him. Not everyone wants to make a deal or cares about wealth. They want you and I converted or dead because their prophet and god have told them so.

Bc we don’t want to commit the time or ground troops needed to really do the job. Neither party wants that. Also, the Iranian government is in shambles so hard to make a deal.

I agree with all of that.
But - we have people in charge of this that know how to do it way better than you or I.
Wait until it's over, I think you'll be pleased.

How many times have we watched Trump step in front of a camera and say that Iran can never have a nuke and that it’s basically not up for negotiation. Then the next day he steps in front of a camera and say Iran wants to make a deal so badly and we will be meeting in city x to negotiate a deal and we are going to get a good deal. Well which is it are we negotiating or are we not? Can’t have it both ways. Either you put a deal in front of Iran that say we get the nuke material and these other things like stopping the funding of proxies by this date or the war is back on and it will not stop again till these people in Iran is either surrendering, dead, or in the wind running for Russia or China. You can’t say we are not negotiating on the nuke material and then turn around and beg for negotiations. These people see that as weakness and when someone from the West starts that they know they have you where they want you and will not submit.

1) DJT had signed-on to the belief that an onslaught of shock and awe and elimination of top leadership, including the Ayatollah, would either quickly bring down the radical Islamic Republic government or what was left of it would surrender as quickly as they could to whatever terms we laid out. Neither of which happened.
2) We quickly realized we are ultimately hostage to the Strait of Hormuz and its ability to remain open.

We can’t.

Yes.

As I’ve said from the beginning, what we are seeing now was always going to be the result. Unless you are going total war, which means hundreds of thousands of American troops on the ground, tens of thousands of American solders killed, hundreds of thousands of Iranian men, women, and children killed, hundreds of billions of dollars spent, a devastated world economy, massive energy prices, and an uncertain length and outcome.
We are not willing to do that. For obvious reasons.
Therefore, why do this? The notion that we could fire missiles and drop bombs and bring down and change an Islamic theocracy of 95M people, that people would rise up and help us, is a fantasy. A pure fantasy that should have been obvious to everyone.
The best we could do, barring total war, is what we did with the B2 bombing run of the nuclear facilities. That was successful. It did something that had not been done before, something Obama and Biden didn’t do:
It stopped the nuclear enrichment. It stopped the centrifuges spinning. It stopped the nuclear program cold. At least for the time being.
We should maintain intelligence and observation, and if they start spinning centrifuges again, we should turn the site to dust. Eventually they get the message that they are not going to be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. Maybe then they negotiate. Or not, doesn’t matter, we continue to stop their progress.
It’s a limited, focused, consistent application of American strength triggered by Iranian actions to affect an outcome that we want.
We strike from afar, we stop. They can do what they want, but they’re not going to be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. We don’t need an agreement to do that.
Now we’re in an open ended affair where we failed to achieve our stated objectives, they have survived, and we’re approaching an election.
To do what we did in a pivotal election year is beyond stupid.

The US could crush Iran militarily in less than week and force the Islamic Regime to make a choice between exiting this realm or accepting defeat but Trump 2.0 is concerned about the outcry from the global community......very understandable.
Same deal with Russia and Ukraine. If Putin wanted to obliterate Ukraine with hypersonic missiles and heavy bombers they could do it within a month or two but they are also concerned about the global outcry and the potential for US/NATO intervention.

Because we have no good options.
Who thinks the American people are going to support a ground invasion of Iran? A mountainous country 4x the size of Iraq. Iran is as large as western Europe.
It's just not going to happen in the real world.
We bombed for 40 days and depleted 8 years of cruise missile production. Munitions aren't infinite. This isn't a video game.
Trump was sold a bill of goods on this deal. He made a terrible decision but at least he's smart enough to try and end it versus some insane escalation Israel would love.
Never double down on stupid.

And why is that?
I can tell you as a former "Blue Dog Democrat" from the 70's-80's, I have changed very little with my political beliefs. On the other hand we have a new iteration of the Democrat Party that now brands itself as the Democratic Socialist Party.
Who are the constituents of the Democratic Socialist Party? It's the "enemies from within" who subscribe to Democratic Socialism, and they are unrecognizable as Democrats when compared to the Blue Dog Democrats from my youth and early adulthood.

These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.
Nothing to see here.
Even MAGA knows something’s up.
