Oh. Well yeah. I'm a disabled vet. I've already paid my debt in full. Call it a right. Call it a privilege. Call it whatever. Makes no difference to me.
And your healthcare could be taken away at a whim. Probably wouldn’t even require congressional action. You want everyone in that situation. Those who view others healthcare as something to be envied will eventually be envious of yours and attempt to take it from you.
And thanks for your service.

You need look no further than Ruth Bader Ginsburg to see what can happen if people are motivated to keep someone in good health. An 80 year old woman (hell probably older) who routinely at this point "beats cancer."
And would’ve been allowed to die under any govt healthcare scheme

How stupid of you
Just a day ago you completely fell for the dumbest fake news article we’ve ever seen on this site ( LINK ), and already you’re back to calling other people stupid?
Nobody else on this site has fallen for a dumber fake news piece than you.

This thread is generally why I hate liberalism.
Just terrible arguments overall on a lot of topics before even getting into the hypocrisy.

Asking for a friend...
You should ask a friend in the UK what it is like to wait 8 months for an appointment with a cancer specialist.
While you are at it... ask your friend why private insurance is flourishing in these countries with this wonderful healthcare for all.
Also, ask your friend why so many doctors in Europe are moving 100% to private practice where they do not participate in the national healthcare system.
You know... since you are asking for a friend...

I’ve lived in a country with universal healthcare. It’s not all what it’s cracked up to be. Hell, my father-in-law needs a knee replacement and has been on a waiting list for a fricking year and a half.

Because we have been paying for Europes lack of defense so they can spend that money on free healthcare while we languish at home.

Lived in the UK and Scotland for 4 years. If you have an accident and need a bone set or stitches it works fine. If you have something more serious that cannot be handled that day then be prepared to wait a long time.
Have family in Birmingham, England and they had a cancer scare and had to wait 8 months to get a biopsy result. How would anyone like to wait 8 months to find out if they had cancer?? IF they did, then that is 8 more more months that cancer had a chance to spread. Then there is another wait for treatment.
People have no idea what national healthcare is really like.

I don't necessarily have a problem with figuring out a better health care system. I believe that the Constitution only gave the federal government a handful of responsibilities and one of them was to provide for the general welfare of the public. In my opinion that can be read as medical care.
No, the word is “promote” the general welfare, not “provide for” the general welfare. That word makes all the difference in the world.

No.
The constitution states that for the general welfare of the public, a limited amount of enumerated powers are granted to the federal government.
You’ve been lied to

My dad just had a knee replacement done here in the terrible US of A. The surgery was done about a week after the initial consult. Terrible system we have here

Medicare is already watered down from what it was 15 years ago. You want to throw in 10 of millions of more people that don't contribute money to fund it?
That would be a cluster if u actually needed to use it.

First of all, it’s breaking the bank and the effectiveness of the health care systems across the globe. Many countries are trying to figure out how to allocate finite health care resources without going bankrupt, and they are mostly doing it with wait times, denial of services for a growing number of health conditions, and a multi-tiered system where the wealthy still pay for private insurance (not too unlike what we have in this country).
Secondly, the U.S. is financing the research and development of the cutting edge medicines and methods which the rest of the world gets at a huge discount.
Thirdly, the U.S. is providing military security for the free world, which allows other countries to spend their money on universal health care.
Lastly, the U.S. is going into massive debt. It’s spending money on a huge government and some significant amount is sent to other countries. The world seems to be relying on the good credit of the U.S. All of this spending must eventually be accounted for. The credit card bill is going to come in the mail eventually.
Perfect answer nicely summarized above.
OP will either not read it or doesn’t have the mental capacity to understand it. Either way, OP will continue to support the ignorant march towards socialism despite all of its failures.

We can start a whole new thread on the destruction of medicine by lesser trained, lesser educated "providers" too....
Not necessarily a bad thing, depends on the situation and takes a large burden off of docs in cases.
Since you are an anesthesiologist, ever see the study commissioned by California anesthesiologists meant to undermine CRNA’s? Well let’s just say it didn’t turn out how they had hoped. Outcomes were way better with CRNA’s. Years at the bedside matter, you see a lot, and it translates into practice. I will try to find the link.
