That’s actually a decent approval rating in today’s super divided political world.

He benefitted tremendously from the .com explosion.

Bill Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama being Democrats is in name only.
There are so many Southern Democrats who still think the Democratic Party of Carter and Clinton exist. They don’t. Trying to get them to see the light is like trying to convert a Muslim to Christianity.

He had so many weaknesses, but one of them was NOT a critical media.
I remember watching headline news one day and Lynn Russell said, “On the campaign trail, Clinton spoke before a large group of supporters in ____, while Dole tried to drum up support in his home state of Kansas…”. It’s even more blatant today, and it will never change. Clinton would never have been elected the first time if he had been scrutinized as was done to Gary Hart and Joe Biden in 1988, or even the “Yahhh!” guy a few years later. The press realized their power after Watergate and have been selectively applying it more and more since.

To me it was that he was fake. Every move he made was performative.

I still remember the 2000 debates between bush and gore where a huge topic was what to do with our budget surplus.
A budget surplus.
We’ve run up the debt about 30 trillion since then. The middle class isn’t 30 trillion richer. Wars and tax cuts are a heady combination.
It’s a damn shame the middle class in America is no better off for this debt bender we’ve been on.

Bubba is an evil, vile man but smart enough to know that Newt was a brilliant Speaker, playing ball with Newt was smart

Bill actually had a congress who wanted to work and get stuff done. He was a good president. Hillary and Women were his weakness.

Didn't matter. Republicans clearly weren't trying to win with Dole as their candidate.
It was his turn long before it was her turn. And Democrats learned nothing from it.

1996 to today is the same as 1966 to 1996
I remember Bill Clinton was scared of Colin Powell book tour in 1995

None. The Republican establishment decided to punt the ball and play defense until 2000.
