Adoption is just as expensive as IVF. ~30k. Government doesn’t fund it as well.
Have you been through the adoption process recently or know anyone who has? It’s horrible.
With birth rates so low as is and government funding single moms, there aren’t that many kids even available to adopt. And those that are you have to decide are you okay with drinking, week, meth, heroine, or any combo of the above during pregnancy. Moms are incarcerated. The babies are taken by force from moms and need critical care right away.
Or you get lucky and find a pregnant woman who isn’t in prison or on any of the above, you pay for all her medical care and the $20k in fees and she has 48 hours to decide she wants to keep it and you are just out the money. Plus you have to worry about mom getting involved in the child’s life at any point.

Everyone knows where this is going. We will ultimately be funding pervert gays to buy children at the baby store. The long term consequences will be devastating.
We need more kids. But naturally, not in this artificial process that involves creating and destroying human life.
Trump is proposing to destroy human life, on my dime. That might just be a bridge too far for myself and other traditional Catholics and Christians.

Did an adoption 27 years ago and it was expensive back then. Imagine how many IVF treatments married couples could receive if the US wasn't spending hundreds of billions on illegals flooding into the country or trillions on forever wars. I'm for anything that takes away the argument from the left who say we need tens of millions of illegals because Americans are not reproducing enough to power the US economy.
