I was raised in a multi generational Democratic household in the 60's-70's, back when it was mainly blue collar/union Democrats vs white collar Chamber of Commerce republicans.

I remained a Democrat until Slick Willie ran for POTUS, I voted for Ross Perot Instead. I knew things were really starting to change politically in the US when Slick Willie appears on the Arsenio Hall Show with his Saxabone.

I'm still mostly the same person politically as I was in my 20's through my early 30's but the Democratic Party started going off the rails with Clinton and it only got worse with Obama and Biden. The Democratic Party left me over 35 years ago and is unrecognizable today, it's now the Democratic Socialism Party and it's a fricking disaster.

On a side note, I don't really consider myself a Republican, although that's been my party registration for +35 years. I'm at the point where I'll vote for any politician who is not part of the Red/Green Alliance, doesn't believe in selling out the American people to globalism, doesn't believe in slaughtering the unborn, doesn't believe there are more than 2 genders, doesn't believe in men in women sports, etc. I'm looking for politicians who can use common sense, logic and reason and that seems to be exclusively socially conservative and fiscally responsible individuals.

I'm a pragmatist with low tolerance for stupidity and emotions raised in a Christian household to not trust commies, so naturally, I could never be a democrat.

Life made mine. Seeing how it kicked me in the nads many times. I realized I didn’t want my tax dollars supporting those unwilling to work, and how I wanted to be left alone. I recognized that kids have no future under Democrat rule. In short, life woke me up. Maybe age 35?
It was the Obamacare individual mandate that fully opened my eyes to socialism and it’s incompatibility with just being “left alone”.

Since Nixon and my late teens. Knew LBJ was a crook and miserable human being. His great society was all about power and could have cared less about poor people or blacks.

Nixon got us out of Vietnam and was much hated by the media almost to the extent that they hate Trump. Thank God for Reagan and Trump. The next 3-4 years are going to be critical for our country. The media, Muslims and communists are our biggest problems.

Born in 61
Dad a vet. Both parents went into education. Sports. Art. And History teacher.
Was in 8th grade civics class I learned I lean right. Voting in class for a local politicians race in Pcola. Both came into class and was clear as day to me who to vote for. I was one of only three who voted for the republican

Parents Democrat but mom hated politicians and politics. Dad watched the news and read the papers. He never wavered from a FDR blue dog.

What made me? I don't have a clue. My two older brothers never cared for the discussion.

I'm from a very small town. A girl 2 years older than me, was a bleeding heart leftist, circa 2003ish. I want politically involved. Barely understood the American system.

This girl went scorched earth on everyone that didn't think like her. Real hateful stuff. Blasted the entire town as rednecks and white trash, which we had, but a huge blue collar, work hard, earn your money community. She hated people like me.

I just wanted to know what made her so jaded, so aggressive to everyone around her.

That's when I learned about the angry leftist stereotype, and white guilt.

I think she runs her own nonprofit. Almost poetic. Hope the money dried up.

Never voted for a democrat for any reason regardless of what a family member would have asked.

I'm 52. I was a Lefty into my mid 20s. I voted for frigging Ralph Nader. That's how far Left I was.

Don't know how or why, but I got a copy of Basic Economics around 2002 or so. Every page was an epiphany.

I became a conservative almost overnight.

Then came Tom Woods, which got me into Mises, Rothbard, and the Austrian School and anarcho capitalism. For years there, I was a minarchist, but in the last 5 years or so, philosophically, I went 100% ancap.

I know that an ancap society isn't in the cards, but a society moving towards less and less trust of government is a move in the right direction.

Raised Republican in rural Mississippi and in the late 80’s attended Millsaps College and went off the rails a tad. Having graduated, working for a living, and Rush Limbaugh set me straight.

As a young teen I grew up hearing my dad, a land man in the oil & gas industry, complaining how the corrupt EWE & his cronies were screwing people in the State out of their oil & gas royalties. He was a Democrat. All I needed to know about politics.

Started out right-wing mostly because my father was. Had some guy where I worked turn me onto Ron Paul/libertarianism in my 20s. Was that for a while. Began to see that it wouldn't work if infinity third-worlders kept flooding in and now I'm much more anti-immigration, pro-Western civilization.

At 9 I was a Reagan fanatic due to my dad. We moved to Alabama summer of 1980 and Carter had interest rates at 18% and my family was trying to buy a home in the job transfer. I saw conservatism work over the next decade and basically set Clinton up for a stellar presidency.

I became an avid Crossfire viewer, despised the Democrat left, had a subscription to National Review at 14 and have been a life long Republican.

After Reagan I thought no one would elect a Democrat again after Reagan fixed the economy and saved the world from communism. I misjudged how F’ed up people are and short memories.
