The problem is that people are completing timesheets/cards for 2 companies using the same hours worked.

WFH works for desk jobs with easily trackable performance metrics.
I worked at Allstate. They want you to close x number of claims/cases a year. they want you to get good client survey reviews. And whatever you do to get to that point they don’t care enough o pay for office space.

saw a guy on youtube who had a scheme where he had like 10-15 WFH jobs and he did basically did nothing for any of them. He would do just enough to keep them from firing him and once he got fired he'd just pick up another WFH job

Government employees have to submit a form and have it approved before working an outside job. How many do you think did that?
If I want to serve on an HOA committee, I have to get approval first. Even though we wouldn't meet during work hours.

Then they need more work or their hours cut. It's tax payer dollars and that plays by different rules

There is zero way this is true. I know a bunch of people that work from home and I cannot name a single one of them that has a 2nd job unless you count something like day trading or managing a rental/Airbnb property as a “side hustle”. I don’t even know anyone that drives Uber, DoorDash, etc
I know a bunch who do. In sales, there’s plenty of people who are pulling in multiple paychecks. Some of those are 1099 positions, so it’s not a big deal. But I know a guy who drives a company car around for one job to sales appointments for another job and charges mileage on his company car to his other job. And that’s just one of his hustles.
This is widespread stuff among certain job segments.

Pretty sure most government civilian employees are required to log their hours (start time-stop time) daily in an online time keeping system even though most are considered "exempt" salaried employees.

The anger that some people have toward remote work is quietly indicative of how fricked we really are.
I am not against WFH. I am against DWFH and get paid for WFH. And that is what is going to be weeded out. And as always when something is abused all end up suffering.

I know probably 10 young people in their 20s who landed DWFH jobs out of college during Covid. They would log into the system in the morning, check their emails and have a couple zoom meetings for the week.
After a couple of years max, their jobs went away. Part of it was the company didn’t have a good way of onboarding new employees because the experienced employees were wfh so they didn’t have a way to easily train other remote workers.
With federal employees, those jobs never go away.

It is called stealing. When you accept pay from your employer you owe them what you are being paid for.

This has been working because nobody is willing to fire the people who only half arse their jobs. This is the situation with a lot of my employees (that I unfortunately do not have the authority to fire) The power dynamic between employee and employer is inverted compared to how it was 10-20 years ago. I like some meeting of the minds between the 2 where everyone is happy and gets shite done but letting the kindergarteners run the class is a nightmare now. About 1 out of 10 people that came in below the age of 30 has been any good.

The claim that 69% of remote workers have multiple jobs comes from a survey, but official data shows only about 5% of workers have more than one job.
The survey is based on a small sample and relies on self-reporting, which isn’t always reliable. Some remote workers do work extra jobs, but it's not nearly as common as the survey suggests.

she got everything done on Tuesday-Thursday so she didn’t have to do much on Mondays and Fridays. Has kids.
How is that possible to get your 40 in on 72 hours?
TBF some people act like you have to be working every second between 8-5pm, while gnoring that many jobs are basically paying you to be available & convenient. Some weeks there may be 40 (or more) solid hours of work, while other weeks have 20-30 hours. BUT maybe your boss really needed some reports done ASAP and they needed their employee right there ready to go. That's just a part of admin/office jobs imo.
In this case, I guarantee many of her bosses & coworkers were lazily checking email & "catching up" all day Monday. And probably knocking off by noon on Fridays. It would be really easy to do other things Mon & Fri while powering through three nice 8 hour days tues-thurs. I doubt she had any issue meeting deadlines if she worked hard at all.

A lot of the people on this board you can tell are straight up working in productivity hourly jobs. They hate it and don't like that others use their mind more in their work than their backs. They'll eventually figure it out and quit working 40 hour hourly manual labor jobs.

The seething from them is incredibly obvious.
