Walgreens can claim that all they want but everyone in my area hates Walgreens. Poorly staffed, slow service, and the pharmacy is often the most expensive one in town.

I miss K&B though. In one stop you could get your medication, get a gallon of ice cream, and a six pack of nasty, cheap-arse beer.

It's still like that. The Walgreens and the like are constantly out of medications (keep a low inventory) and partially fill scripts.

They never run out of the things that make you need the medications that they run out of, beer, cigs, candy, chips.............................

I really doesn't make sense.

This has been my experience any time I've attempted to send a prescription to them within the last several years. They haven't been able to fill it, to the point that I've either waited over a week for a "truck that's coming in tomorrow" that they can't tell you whether your meds are on board or not, or called my doctor to change it to a mom and pop around the corner that fills it immediately.

The prescription I'm on is very important that you stay steady, but the pharmacists there don't seem to give two shits about any of that and always treated me rudely when I was just trying to get answers on a definite timeline.

"I need to know if this will be arriving on the truck tomorrow or if this will be another 2 days until your next delivery. It's very important."

"I can't tell. Call us tomorrow afternoon."

This isn't just one Walgreens in one city, this has been across multiple stores in 2 states.

That kind of shite is why I no longer use Walgeeens.

I’d use local instead if they weren’t outright telling me not to fill there because the reimbursement from insurance is too low and they lose money on the deal.

Wags doesn’t give you enough hours of personnel to work it adequately so everyone is doing the job of multiple people. And you get so behind, there is no reason to work super hard bc you won’t ever get caught up

Plus they don’t give raises and will cut your hours of the help they do give you so the trained people end up leaving bc they have bills to pay and the vicious cycle of hiring people and attempting to retrain them goes on and on

It’s such a shitshow and maybe the most demoralizing soul crushing place to work
This seems totally plausible to me.

I find American "drug stores" to be among the single most depressing public spaces in the country. They have aisles and aisles of junk food set amongst aisles and aisles of nonsense "medical" products foisted on a public that has been made intentionally sick.

And their pharmacies are nothing to write home about.

I would not be surprised if the other poster was right about them just using this as an excuse to shutter a bunch of stores that were a part of a massive over-expansion.

I interviewed with Walgreens long ago, before CVS was much more than a startup. Half of the interview was about the CVS folks coming in and taking pics of every single display and emulating it in their stores.

Sadly it’s the systems fault . We as the pharmacist have no control over if the warehouse sends the med. and if we say it’ll come the next day, and it doesn’t, then you’ll get pissed at us for lying to you . There’s a no win situation. I long quit promising that. As I’ve gotten burnt too many times at bitched at for things I can’t control .

And when I had trouble getting meds in, I could make a special manual order.. but guess what.. idiot district managers with some sketchy online mba who wouldn’t know an ace inhibitor from their arsehole get on to you for special ordering drugs that the warehouse isn’t sending . So I couldn’t do it too often only when I think I could get away with it.

It’s such a shite company. Top to bottom. Unsafe working conditions. Their equipment is outdated running computer systems from the 90’s. Half the shite doesn’t work. Just a mess.

Wow, Rite-Aid is pretty much packing up shop here. I thought pharmacies printed money.

Wonderful news. With Rite Aid gone, they'll have no way to verify my vaccine card if it came down to it.

Didn't Rite-Aid get bought out by CVS or something? I remember hearing that a while back.

These bold statements about inflation by MSN don’t line up with news being put forth by the current administration about how good things are for all of us.

Amazon has a pharmacy. They’re putting a lot of store fronts out of business.

I made this change 4 years ago with a mom and pop pharmacy when I moved to my new home. I Couldn’t be happier with them and so glad I do not have to go to a retail pharmacy or Walmart any longer.
