It is like locking people up for years with no bail whiling waiting for trial didn't occur.

More Gestapo tactics by ICE… overreaching with state government and
with an American citizen, no less. There is no justification for this un-American
nonsense. It’s shameful and betrays the principles upon which our country was founded and the literal mandates of the Constitution.

Us citizens have their rights violated and falsely jailed, it happens and it wrong. This young man just got a nice boost in life at 20 years old because he just won the lottery.

Blowing the speed limit by 13 mph = racial profiling?

Of course it does.

The kicker is Gomez (fresh off his DWI charge [it's amazing the number of Hispanics that get busted for this]) was clearly an anchor baby and lived in Mexico for almost all of his life (to the point the fricker can't even speak English).

THIS is why birthright citizenship for illegals is utter horseshite.

Tell all the illegals to quit using multiple names and stealing identities…. Oh and learn to speak English…

Mistakes will happen…

He lived in Mexico from the time he was 1-year-old until four years ago, when he returned to Georgia, his mother told the Phoenix.

Yes, a true red white and blue flag waving American.

Look he will be released, again. And he will get arrested again.

Yep, yep, and yep.

Exactly. We have millions of these people to deal with because of President Zombie. Percentage wise, it's probably .000000001. I can live with that. When they find out they made a mistake, just correct it.

according to the arrest report. Lopez-Gomez gave his Georgia state ID to the trooper, who wrote in his report that Lopez-Gomez said he was in the country illegally.

Maybe learn to speak English so you aren't confessing to crimes you are innocent of.

I understand that you googled this and got this response from that subsequent result, but immigration stops are exceptions to the general rule.

I'm not talking about immigration stops, I'm talking in general, and I am 100% correct.

People like you definitely need the camps so that we have one less mentally ill person to influence others.

You'd be the first to walk into the camp just to prove you've done nothing "wrong".

If he and his mother are showing his "Born in the USA" birth certificate, then sorry, the process should have been paused and more investigation done. Yes, it is Trump's fault (not him personally, his administration, the managers of this under him).

I agree there should be an investigation, but the righteous indignation over it comes across as looking at it through rose-colored glasses, at best. What much of this indignation appears to be is nothing more than childish "OMB!!111".

Over time I've noticed there are often only two sides to resolve a political issue: one side doing something and the other side saying "something has to be done, except THAT!" The implication of the latter group is usually that it's better until some magical "perfect" solution is presented. It never exists, so the reality of that side is that nothing gets done. Another aspect of this latter course is tying things up in courts until those pushing for change give up or are distracted by some other topic they believe they can make better progress on.

That lawfare portion is why you're going to see so much resistance to complaints about the need for better scrutiny in this and your side of the aisle is the source of it. In other words, don't be so quick to run around screaming blame at Trump for innocents getting caught up in the shitpile created almost exclusively by your side of the aisle.

More to the point of this case though...

We know there are illegals using various documents to falsely claim citizenship to the point where Occam's Razor is against someone like this guy. Yes, the foundation of our justice system is supposed to be "innocent until proven guilty" but we all know that isn't always the reality and that's going to be especially true in a case like this where his upbringing automatically casts doubt on his claim.

Hold back on the overly dramatic pearl-clutching and let the system unwind itself enough (from the pro-illegals stance your side of the aisle has pushed for over a decade now) to start working correctly.

Roger that.. it's as if mistakes can't happen when humans are involved.

Only Republicans error....uhmmmmm...

Check this out...shite happens.

Studies estimate that approximately 4-6% of people incarcerated in US prisons may be innocent of the crimes for which they were convicted. This suggests that a significant number of individuals, potentially tens of thousands, may be wrongfully incarcerated.

This should make a goose-stepper like you happy.

Then again, you are only against it since it isn’t MAGA being locked in concentration camps.

Our courts and government incarcerate US citizens improperly all the time.

We don't stop arresting do we.

Typical anchor baby. After being born on American soil he returned to Mexico where he lived until he was 4yo.

Hopefully the Trump admin can successfully put a stop to anchor babies.

Maybe you are illiterate. I addressed your general point while CLEARLY acknowledging the specific circumstances weren't applicable in this situation.

Exactly what most have been worrying about. This admin is moving fast and making mistakes and operating like it's ok to break things and violate people's God given rights.

For all the talk over the years of how liberal we're about ends justifying means, that's exactly what maga is pushing today. Anything is acceptable if our outcomes are achieved which is a scary way to operate.
