And I posted this yesterday.

Again, people are way too quick to put words in peoples mouths on this message board (and truth be told the same holds true for a ton of other political boards too),

Why doesnt beef have label of origin laws?

My guess is the Packing Houses don't want the American Consumer see how much they are fleecing the public.

Let's say a Grocer has "US Raised" Meat and the same cut from Brazil Is 20-30% cheaper as example. How would the consumer react?

The Prime Rib, Ribeye people may step up but the ground beef, chuck roast people with less disposable income will buy the cheaper meat.

Argentine beef is good

Hell yes it is. I had no idea Argentina had beef and wine at the level they do when I visited. I had 0 bad meals and they all revolved around steak.

There are thousands of individual/private companies in the U.S. meat packing and processing business, but the market is dominated by just four giants (Tyson, JBS, Cargill, and National Beef) that control about 85% of fed cattle slaughter.

Two of the four are Brazilian owned.

Keep in mind that virtually all of the steer is used and monetized—

That's true, but those by products represent a small fraction of the total revenue. The USDA's most recent report states it's around $11.00-$11.50 per hundred weight. That works out to around 11-12 cents per pound, so the price per pound of yielded meat would still work out close to $3.

Too long to type, go do some research on the main types of cattle businesses. A calf will trade hands 3-5 times usually before being slaughtered. Packers make the brunt of the profit in beef and 4 companies control over 80% of all protein in this country. With 3 of them being completely or majority foreign owned.

Isn't this pretty much any industry though? It's like when Pizza Hut or Domino's offer a $9.99 large pizza all the others pretty much have to follow suit.

No. What you describe is healthy competition that drives prices down and benefits consumers. They were describing the opposite - conspiring on high prices to screw consumers.

If you really want cheaper products, you need cheap energy. Stop subsidizing wind and solar. Build and operate base load coal, nuclear, and natural gas. Lower prices will follow.
