Trump says USS Lincoln’s Extended Deployment “Not Nearly Long Enough”

Pretty striking to hear this from the commander in chief. I think it shows blatant:
1. Unawareness of the situation, or
2. Disconnect/lack of empathy for what the military actually has to go through.
I think it’s possible with Trump that both are true. His personal connections prevented him from serving in the military. Not the biggest deal, he is certainly not the first president to use privilege to avoid military service and he won’t be the last.
But those who have been on an overseas deployment (and involuntarily extended) understand what the Sailors went through. It seems a foolish quip, which can only alienate a base that is probably prone to support you.
I think it’s safe to say he just lost the vote of 5,000 sailors (as well as their families).

He could have kept them out there. He calls the shots.

He can’t help himself. He’s an arse. But some will cheer him because they think he sounded tough.

This has already been discussed here.

It could be a back handed comment about military readiness and logistics aimed at his officers, but he loves to put his foot in his mouth/is inarticulate at times

Trump is Trump... a narcissistic a-hole with a healthy God complex. It's what gave him a chance at being effective, but then he wanted to get re-elected so badly that he got bought. Now he's a problem along with all his bad qualities. Really, I'm just ready for him to be done.

In a brief exchange with reporters before flying to New York for an event to highlight falling violent crime rates across the U.S., Trump refuted that family members have raised concerns about the deployment’s length and even said that the deployment — which includes a record-setting uninterrupted time at sea of more than 240 days — is “not nearly long enough.”
“That ship is moving right now, or very shortly, and it’s being replaced with another very similar ship,” Trump said when asked about the lengthy deployment. The acting navy secretary, Hung Cao, said the Lincoln “will return home soon” in a social media post on Friday.
Trump strode into office for a second term vowing to avoid lengthy and expensive military entanglements. And after launching the Iran war, alongside Israel, Trump and his advisers said the conflict would last a matter of weeks. The war is now more than five months old.
But on Friday, during his crime address in Garden City, New York, he acknowledged that he’s used the U.S. military “a little bit more than I wanted to,” while asserting anew that the U.S. operation against Iran is going well. He even said, seemingly in jest, that “pretty soon I’ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States.”
“I’ll never apologize,” Trump added about the war and its impact on oil prices. “I did the right thing.”

You trigger them so much.
A simple clip of GEOTUS is all it takes.
It’s glorious.

Yeah, the Commander in Chief should've spoken about how fragile and weak the Navy sailors are. That's how you talk up our military as the Chief right? Escpecially while we're currently in conflicts?
That ship is designed to stay at sea longer, so I guess long deployments could and should happen.
Edit:
Used the wrong spelling of sea.. fixed

And remember, these are the same people that believe if you're not a woman, you should have no say so on abortion.
So RFK here has never served in the military, but he'll tell you how to run it...
RFK, you have no right to speak on this. Logic.

Tizzied
And I sense some repression.
We won’t judge.
All the gay references…
Interesting.
From all your time in close quarters with all those men?
Make one think.
Seconds since = 0

And there is that repression again.
I’m sensing a theme.
And another day where you just can’t help yourself. Same as it ever was.

I think Trump was being a smartass thinking someone might realize he's being a smartass.
Wrong place to be a smartass
