In a fight with China, 2 will be at the bottom of the pacific in the first 6 months, according to war games.

How much of what went on is a leadership problem? Where was the NCO leadership that should have been all over keeping places like the bathrooms shown in photos clean. Where was the fleet level leadership to ensure that fresh food made it out to the ship?
Then some sort of port call should have been made with a repair ship available to fix the largest problems.

That carrier isn’t that old and she is already going down for 2 years if the article I read is correct.
Yep BUT I will give one small grace here—she’s first of her class so it’s not all that unheard of to make major adjustments after a couple deployments.
Here’s to hoping they have made appropriate adjustments for JFK and Enterprise. Also here’s to hoping the USN tells Trump to frick off with his order to go back to steam from EMALS catapults for Doris Miller.

If there’s conflict in the SCS, our major concern is land-based hypersonic and conventional missiles and drone swarms. Not the PLAN.

It’s war. They need to quit bitching. How about take the initiative and clean the freaking head instead of crying to mommy. This is what happens when you pussiffy the military.

They’d basically have to go to Crete to do that, and that wasn’t practical.
The real screw up here was getting into defensive and denial mode instead of just simply saying “We acknowledge and are greatful for Lincoln’s excellent service and the strain that has placed on the personnel in her strike group. It was extended but her and her crew performed admirably and professionally. She’s being rotated home”

I think he is embarrassed some of our military are so soft and their mommies have to complain for them.
I would think that sitting around for years waiting for some action would be applauded when they were finally able to "get some".....apparently not.
IRGC standing tall, missing pay, and getting the shat blown out of them. Our guys missed a couple of happy meals and want to go home.

Yeah when Trump decided to do that I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. It really is though. Those steam powered cats put a lot of extra stress on the aircraft. You would think by the time they get around to finally building the Doris Miller all the bugs in the new system would be just about worked out. They should be close to it anyway you would think.

It’s a fricking ship. There’s a reason why people platform shower shoes together. The most laughable part is that this is a big ship with whiners on it while the rest of the group on smaller older ships been hasn’t had complaints broadcasted. It’s very dramatic there are a few that have it “so rough” they send pics out or call to complain to their families. Wonder how they’d fair in the middle of a desert on a farp or fob with absolutely nothing and limited coms burning their own shite and eating UGREs.

Plus, Trump won’t be in office by the time this would truly have to be decided, so it won’t become an issue.
The EM problems have been fixed for years on Ford (see prior comment about first in class)
Cancelling everything that doesn’t work immediately is not smart, especially years after the issues were smoothed out.
There are zero advantages going back to steam.

Once again, despite what the media is telling you and what you are choosing to focus on, crew happiness is NOT why 9 month deployments without any dockside maintenance should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.
It’s like people believe that the story about the crew popped up so the Navy suddenly reacted and sent the GW to cover. That’s not how anything works. GW was going to have to relieve her regardless in the short term until the Roosevelt finishes work ups in San Diego.

I bet all the ones crying to mommy will be filing VA claims first chance they get. What an embarrassment.

Oh yeah? Let’s hear about your experiences

Huh?
I’m just telling you that the last week of drama from the crew isn’t why she’s being rotated. At least not in any meaningful way. The ship itself and its aircraft need to be relieved. We can’t resupply as we would like in confined waters near Iran. It creates targets.
Besides, Washington was already on the way when this story broke.

So you have no personal experiences and typing away based upon media reports?

Personal experience with what?
No, I have never been Chief of Naval Operations or the Secretary of the Navy.
You seem to be the only person going on media reports. I’m going off common sense and my knowledge of the Navy, the carrier fleet, and how it operates and rotates—knowledge from the navy itself and publicly available information it publishes on ships and their movements, which I monitor.

I have not done any deep reading on the electro emals system but I am a little familiar with how it works and what its purpose is. If it’s functioning to specs it will save a lot of stress on the airframes of the aircraft. I’m remembering that correctly am I not?
And by the way I’m actually really glad that the Navy is bringing back the name Enterprise. I lost an extremely close friend about a year ago that went on his first float aboard CVN-65. A quick little cool story. He sent me this patch that you could sow on a jacket or something. It had a picture of a carrier on it with like this swirling symbol you see in a lot of nuclear plants. Don’t know what that symbol is called. It had the carrier name Enterprise and the CVN-65. On the bottom was written mobile Chernobyl lol. He told me when he got back of that cruise that the Navy had taken all them up and wouldn’t allow them to be distributed anymore. I asked why and he said that the talk was that the Navy was afraid to let a nuclear powered aircraft carrier be compared to Chernobyl lol. I don’t know if that was true or not. He said that was the talk anyway.

It is our stated policy never to strike first with nuclear weapons.
