I think this is because of the 1,000-stock market drop yesterday. Trump wants the market up and oil down, so these announcements are made and quickly denied by Iran.

Deep down they know but they’re obsessively holding out for a deal because they’re scared shitless of the midterms.
In reality it’s making the administration look worse to a lot of people because we’re in no man’s land.
