So this is a great plan. Bankrupt the American cattle farmer so we can be completely dependent on foreign meat.

Do you have an alternative plan in mind?

Tariffs are taxes. Gov’t intervention into markets has bad effects.

More news at 10.

This just in, being president is hard and you get criticized.

Some can handle it, others thrive on having their ego stroked and make emotional decisions. I know which one we have right now.

Cattle farmers caused the surge in prices to begin with.

Farmers realized how oil companies control the market.

They learned that if you can keep the supply tight, you can control the price. By controlling the price and keeping it high, you are more profitable even though you may sell less heads of cattle and had less overhead because of it.

BOOM!

The government needs to take over the cattle industry, oil industry, shoe and car manufacturing, and definitely the crawfish farming and boiling industries.

The spike in beef prices are directly related to the years of allowed collusion between the big4 packers, depressing fat cattle prices. You stack a multi year drought on almost a decade of depressed cattle prices and you get massive herd dispersal and ranchers getting out leading to lowest herd numbers in around 60 years. Then add inflation and the new world screw worm returning to the US via MX for the first time since the 40s and guess what. Beef prices went up.

Tariffs raised prices on import beef, domestic beef suppliers raised their prices to increase profit bc they’ve been hurting.

Australian beef and others already shifted supply to China because of the tariffs.

American Consumers get effed.

We import beef due to blend with our own higher quality beef. Not only are we good at making Americans fat we are the best at producing high quality beef, which mean higher fat and marbling content. We bring in the leaner meat primarily to blend down our ground meat.

That's the dumb, thanks. No, we import beef because we don't have any.

lol

Ranchers didn’t do this. Shortage was caused by a major drought reducing herd size, Biden admin being hostile towards cattle industry, and the fact a lot of ranchers went out of business due to money or simply the younger generation doesnt want to take it over. I’ve seen several catfish operations close this year with more to come for the same reasons, nobody has sons that want to run the farm. It’s too much work and time for them

To grow herds and get more beef in the coolers is a 3-4 year project. Importing some beef as a bridge is solid.

Now, kill the beef mafia.
