President Donald Trump on Friday morning said he would exempt from tariffs 300,000 metric tons of imported ground beef, the administration’s latest bid to lower prices ahead of midterm elections.

That’s like a week of US consumption. Won’t affect much

Weird. I though consumers didn't pay the tariffs?

Ah yea that's really going to help American cattle farmers. Great plan...

I guess a little dip in the socialism pool is ok now?

The tariff was imposed to protect American cattle ranchers during a shortage. You have the option to buy domestic or foreign meat. Removing or laxing the tariff will provide further competition in hopes to lower the whole market.

Nobody is surprised you don’t know this. No matter what Trump did you’d still cry.

Cattle farmers caused the surge in prices to begin with.

Farmers realized how oil companies control the market.

They learned that if you can keep the supply tight, you can control the price. By controlling the price and keeping it high, you are more profitable even though you may sell less heads of cattle and had less overhead because of it.

Why’s that necessary? The economic scholars of this board say tariffs don’t raise prices.

So if you can lower prices by removing a tariff, wouldn’t that imply levying a tariff raises prices?

I was reliably informed by the populists that tariffs aren't passed on to the consumer

So other countries around the world who use tariffs on the USA are taxing their own residents? Or does this only apply to the United States for argument on a politics board?

That's nice. Also irrelevant.

So... using SealTeam45 arguments is "crying". Weird. It's always fun to watch you argue against your own positions.

The fact that you did not know this does not surprise me.

It was a rhetorical question dumbass. Not surprised you didn’t pick that up. Again you guys are crying because tariffs were implemented to protect ranchers and if it weren’t you’d be crying just like right now you’re still crying after the tariff is reduced.

bullshite. Cattle farmers have been eating shite for years. As evidenced by the decreasing number of farms.

So this is a great plan. Bankrupt the American cattle farmer so we can be completely dependent on foreign meat.

Again there’s no winning with anyone. Every decision will be met with criticism. Protect the ranchers, bad, try and correct the market and have lower prices, bad.
