No, he's probably not worried about that. Especially when you can finance the phone for 4 years ( contracts)

Because its more efficient for us to outsource products that require menial labor to China.

Just two weeks ago, the goal on this board was "decoupling" from China, which will never happen because we benefit from their low labor cost.

Then he has no business running APPLE.

They lost market share in China. In the first quarter of 2024, Samsung surpassed Apple to become the top phonemaker globally, with a 20.8% market share, while Apple held a 17.3% share.

This is the break down in the USA

He would be stupid to think that apple will not lose market share in the US.

Weird how people just name call instead of providing an intelligent rebuttal.

It’s not weird here at all. It’s the norm with a subset of the board.

And guess what? Those cheap labor days are ending. Sort but I don’t mind paying an extra 10% for a widget made in America

This is another play to weaken China. China's largest commercial investor is Apple. They invest over $55bn ANNUALLY there. That is more than the "once in a generation" investment the Biden admin made in America for computer chips.

I remember a few short weeks ago when all the anti-tariff bros were telling us that iPhones would cost over $10k if manufactured here.

I was also told that the tariffs would crash the economy and cause shortages.

You people have been wrong every step of the way, but I'm sure you've nailed it this time.

iPhones simply cannot be made in the USA on any kind of mass level.
Apple has invested billions and over a decade developing the supply chains and skilled labor that does not exist anywhere else.
The people with the skillset needed to build iPhones could fill multiple football stadiums in China. In the US we couldn’t fill a high school gymnasium.

Prices literally did go up. Its just that every time someone starts a thread with an example, MAGA bros jump in and say "HA and you think I'm worried about [that product]?!"

Security. Do we want China building our tech and installing backdoors to spy on us?

Overseas Labor cost are about 500 a week and they work 12 hr 6 days a week.
Here lazy entitled workers are going to want 30 an hour plus benefits and work 40 or less hours a week and that is if they can find enough skilled workers to do the job. And you cant automate the whole assembly of the phone. then you have Sourcing parts and components domestically that will certainly be a task.

This company makes cell phones in America:

quote:

American tech company, Librem produces its privacy-focused Linux smartphone, Librem 5, in the USA. It states that 'all the electronics will be made in our USA facility, and the entire phone will be assembled in the US' making it the only American phone manufacturer out there right now. In part, this is likely to be because it's a smartphone that promises to not track or mine your personal data for sale or for advertising purposes in any way. Being manufactured 'locally' means that consumer confidence can be high with such features. The Librem 5 also has hardware kill switches so you can shut down WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular signal, as well as your microphone or camera, in a permanent manner.

And how is this a problem for the consumer when you guys say nobody will work for them or they’ll hire visa workers?

Here is what will happen.

1. Apple will continue to build overseas because it's still cheaper.
2. Cost of Apple Phones will increase.
3. Apple stock price will drop because tariff will shrink their profit margin.
4. American consumers will get tired of al the winning!
