Tell these fools. We wanted America first and nothing says America first like 500,000 imports from a country you are allegedly targeting economically
Posted on 5/15/26 at 7:29 am to NIH
Just importing drs and engineers man because lazy Americans all want to not work or be baristas.
We need Chinese nationals in control of IT security for us.

You don’t think there is that amount of Americans who would love to get a STEM degree from Harvard?
Then your issue is with Harvard not accepting them. And chances are, whether you like it or not, the Chinese students meet the academic requirements to get into Harvard that the American kids don’t. Or Harvard simply wants foreign students.
How much does a university charge for out of state tuition and foreign student tuition? That’s driving this more than Trump’s misguided notions on this policy.
I completely agree that we should put Americans (and America) first. But framing that argument as though native students are denied the opportunity is patently false.
I’d love to ask DJT how admitting these kids puts America first, given the security risks given Chinas history of espionage.

This is the real issue. We should assume that every single Chinese national on our soil is a spy, because they are. We know they're going to be loyal to China and he dgaf.

Trump says it's good to have 500,000 foreign Chinese students in the U.S. and for China to purchase U.S. farmland; otherwise, colleges and farm prices would collapse:
This is not what I voted for
If by farm prices does he mean price of farmland? Does he realize how expensive farmland has gotten which is a huge barrier to young farmers trying to get in the business. Good irritated land in the Ms delta is going for 6-8k an acre. Back around 2005 you could buy farmland for under 1k per acre. I remember it was a huge deal hearing land selling for 3k an acre after the 2008 recession

It’s to prop up failing universities which we have too many of. Let them fail. Tired of subsidizing EVERYTHING

That would be Obama’s ’Diploma Mills’. An attempt to inject ‘muh Certified’ productivity into the Private Market and “spread the wealth around “.
From the Leftist pov it worked. Re true economic productivity and value, not so much. Put money and Middle Class affluence in the hands of minorities mostly who would have otherwise remained in the economic low class but undermined efficiency at taxpayer expense.
Albeit Hunter Biden is a thousand times worse; at least they show up for work. Pelosi as well with her Stock Market bs. Can’t blame the powerless for doing the same thing that the powerful do.

Seperate issue my friend.
That is an issue of we have too many worthless sissy degrees.
IMO it's tied together. Why do we have so many worthless degrees? Because people bought into the idea of: I got a degree, so give me that big salary. U.S. students have had the opportunity to major in biology, chem, engineering, but most don't because they are saying: I got my BA in blank. That will be an 80 grand starting salary please....
There wouldn't be shite degree programs if nobody was in the classes. It's a chicken and egg situation.

They are both problems too many worthless degrees and too many people in them. Then we have the issue of giving away 500k spots in the few degree fields that are of actual value.
Even if we were to agree that for some real reason American kids don’t want to be in STEM it’s still bad policy to take 500k China nationals on student visas. We do have real actual allies and kids from non enemy countries that haven’t made a habit of stealing all tech and IP that could come in and take those spots.
It’s all an incentive to these universities, some of them really like being commies so they want China to beat us, some just like money and like covid you get more money with more cases

We can at the same time have too many people getting worthless degrees while also not giving 500k actual worthwhile spots to foreign enemies.
That’s a good point, but I maintain that all of the Americans who want STEM degrees are getting them, plus a whole lot of worthless MFers. Very few people are in position to understand this issue as well as me. For 25 years, and until three years ago, I was the driving force in hiring STEM in a company that hired thousands. I personally interviewed many of the candidates and I drove the hiring culture and metrics.
Our economy could not function on an American citizen only approach to STEM degrees and employment. It’s not even close to possible. I wish that wasn’t true but it is.
One thing we could do that would improve things is to open our borders to people from Eastern Europe and to Christians from Arabia. That would lower our need for Chinese candidates.

That's interesting how you say "small percentage of Americans"(0.52%). When you do not include a bunch of little kids and retirees and just say "employed Americans"...it jumps to 1.2%. That is a lot of people.

That is the real proper answer.
We also need to reform our education system top to bottom.

Yes Americans are now refusing to do white collar work.
Why work when you can live a comfortable life on the various welfare programs we have in this country?
There's no reason to work hard anymore. Toss in some medicaid fraud here and there, and you're set.
It's the new american dream.
ETA: It's fascinating watching the proggies and the Fuentes/Carlson crew on this forum yet again cozy up together. One big happy family now.

What is your point? No one working at Starbucks or wal mart are trying to work at nasa. We have plenty of very smart people born in this country who can and do work for nasa.

It’s got to be a let down for MAGA to get punched in the face over and over again. And then have to put on the brave face and call it “winning”.
Posted on 5/15/26 at 8:35 am to AGGIES
It for sure isn’t a good path for the country this is going to lead to apathy and Dems getting control again and then the ball will swing further next time.
Very disappointing seeing MAGA be compromised along with our bought and paid for Congress. America feels like it’s teetering

Trump is tripping with this one. China shouldn't own any farm land and the Chinese are spies!
