frick me why can't we just bring all troops back home, close down our overseas bases and outposts, and stop being the emperor of the world, and then focus entirely on building up and fortifying our own country?
Foreign policy of the last several decades has been abysmal. Since ww2, we've been either inserting ourselves into conflicts or creating conflicts all over the world.
This Iran shite has been horrible. After we saw Israel couldn't bring down the Iranian government within a few weeks, we should've made a quick u-turn, stopped our involvement in the conflict and detached ourselves from Israel concerning all things Iran. We don't have the commitment to invade and overthrow the Iranian government, but we talk like we will. We don't have the commitment to take that strait.. but we talk like we do. Either go all in on something or remove our country from that situation entirely. This fruitless back and forth will just be neverending.. and the only ones who will remotely suffer as a whole are us because the gas prices keep fluctuating.
