Do you think the US is responding to the situation appropriately by ignoring the stranded citizens?

The government could charter repatriation flights.

None of us even knows for sure who is stranded, how many there many be, where they are at, or anything else.

I promise you the government does though as I said and i will say again our intelligence inside Mexico is near the top of anywhere in the world.

I have no idea how the government is responding or if its the correct way or not because I lack basically all the needed information to even begin to make a decision on how they should act either way. And so do you

You’re being defeatist. We have tried many things to varying degrees of success. While nothing has “worked” in completely eradicating the cartels what’s to say something we have yet to try won’t result in a greater degree of success.

I’d be content with heavily militarizing the border at the very least.

Until a Democrat activist judge rules against it, sure.

We need total and complete buy in from a Mexican state. We have never had that even though we have been allowed to basically conduct intelligence operations on scale we do almost no where else in the world, and they let us use that to at times knock down a leader or two, theyve never gave us anywhere close to total buy in to eradicating them

Mexico is embedded with some of our best HUMINT asset gathering and networking in the entire world, I know this because I literally did Human Intel and sourcing and other similar things as a 35M MOS.

We also have been running 24 hour drone ISR operations across the entire country for the past 6 months at least.

There is almost nothing that goes down in mexico that we arent aware of especially something of this magnitude.

Glad to have you as a resource!

This intelligence is there for certain reasons. The bureaucratic infrastructure that receives this intelligence is designed to produce certain outputs. This would require a recalibration by a bureaucracy that is just not designed for free thinking.

In order for this to happen, someone - most likely Trump himself - would have to get interested in this and assign someone on his cabinet to solve the problem.

How fast do you think the real world works?

Even if to comes to that, which it wont because most airports in Mexico are still getting flights in and out to the US, who would they charter these airplanes from? Delta and United? They’ll resume service when the airport in Puerto Vallarta opens back up anyway.

This is a totally fair point.

Albeit an obvious one. Of course the intelligence operations arent conducted just in case one day we need to ensure a citizens of ours safety. That would be ridiculous. They can still easily be used for that purpose if it comes to pass though.

You seem to be an expert.

The two main cartels are Jalisco and Sinaloa.

The minor ones are:

Northeast Cartel
Gulf Cartel
Juárez Cartel
Tijuana Cartel

We should pick one and absolutely obliterate it via our supreme advanced technology. Make it as brutal as possible. Then, tell the other cartels you are next. Nobody is asking for bots on the ground as in 2026 that is just stupid and not needed.

I'm actually headed to Mazatlán in the state of Sinaloa in late March it is a Narco State 100% controlled by the Cartel. My girlfriend is from there. Her parents live on the beach there in a gated neighborhood complete with armed guards. I will report what I see.

It isnt nothing and it is something that needs to be monitored and handled.

Idk what youre expecting exactly though. The 160th SOAR and Delta to fly in from El Paso and escort them out via stealth helo?

Wait a minute. Neither of those are good answers.

I was being genuine. I’m often amazed by the expertise available on this board. So it’s cool to have that kind of first hand experience.

One of the downsides of social media is that we can’t see facial expressions and gestures nor hear inflections. So we are without clues to what animates our interlocutor. In that vacuum, we unfortunately fill in cynicism.
