If anything this whole incident is on that K-9 handler. The dog clearly hit on the shooter and was moving towards him and you don’t even stop & question the guy?

The dog may have lost its life, but the would be assassin does not make it past the checkpoint.

The challenge should have been a complete search and request for backup.

Political correctness should never play a part in protecting POTUS.

To me it looks like there is only one man in plain clothes that could be Secret Service. Everyone else is in a uniform. The ladies might have been from TSA. The dog alert was the tell. The Officer should have taken action. It looks like only one uniformed Officer was actually alert and watching where an intruder could come from. They were watching the dismantling of the scan machine, and not doing their job. They were the first line of defense and failed. Hopefully new changes come out of this encounter.

I laughed and said the same thing when I heard this but paused to think. What could I hit with my pistol after taking a shotgun blast to the chest?

Probably not much...

I zoomed in the video. The K-9 handler pulls his dog back and has a couple words with the perp.

They need to be moved back under the treasury department. It’s been completely downhill since the left their oversight. Now they have five different superiors instead of one so nothing gets done in regards to accountability

Im not kidding that I think they should be put under a special operations command as an adhoc/interim solution to get their guys into complementary/support roles, improve their tech and procedures, evaluate existing agents, retrain the ones with potential, eliminate the ones who are clearly not competent and expedite the rehiring of qualified protection people even if they're rotating in ex-operators until those new agents are ready.

And yes, they should strip away all their investigative functions and give them to the FBI (which itself needs to be rebuilt from the ground up) so they can focus strictly and solely on protection.

Why didn't the canine officer turn his dog loose to chase and catch the assailant? I mean, that dog's a lot faster than anyone there.

Dude comes running out with gun in hands a split second after K9 cop looks away. There's no way he didn't see Cole with that gun. What the frick was he doing?

What I'm saying is that my 9 year old has trained enough with guns that I would feel confident in his ability to make that shot. So, I am questioning the ability and training of these officers and the SS.

Your 9 year old doesn’t have someone shooting back at him, thankfully. Combat shooting is a whole other world from shooting on a range, throw in stress, fear & adrenaline and the fact the agent was hit before he returned fire. Lots of factors that don’t make the situation as simple as it sounds

The fact is that maintaining top-tier tactical capabilities requires almost constant, consistent training. Army Delta and FBI-HRT, shoot and run scenarios almost weekly. Agencies like the SS and SS Uniformed Division don’t have the staffing or the budget to stay dialed in like that, nor do almost all agencies or PDs.
Seeing the video of the guy running through the checkpoint, I think management heads need to roll and mindset and training needs to be greatly improved.

Yep. Up the hallway and right past a dozen security that conveniently ALL had tehir backs turned to the entrance they were securing. First rule of securing an entrance is Face the foo king entrance.

Excellent question, the handler’s actions make no sense. The dog is telling you something is up and you say “nah I’m gonna walk away”

Your 9 y/o would shite his pants in that situation, gasping for air, & trying to breath.

The golf course is up there because how does this guy know when the president was teeing off and how do you not have security around the entire property and then you miss and had to have a sheriff actually stop the guy.

And how did this guy know that Trump would be at the dinner Sat. night when he had never gone to the Correspondents dinner before? This teacher booked a $3k room, likely needing to reserve months beforehand, just on the chance Trump would be there?

How did he pull out the shot gun with in 1 sec of the K9 officer turning around. It was obviously under his jacket somehow. I'm sure the K9 officer probably should've gone to search him if his dog is telling him something.

On another note, the other video, who was taking the shots in that video? I can't tell.

ETA: Ok I saw who was shooting in the slow motion version. I hadn't seen that. That looked like a police officer and not SS. They definitely don't have a ton of training. The guy in the suit certainly didn't seem like frontline SS guy. He is lucky he wasn't hit by the police officer firing.
why did they all stop and then start moving to the subject after he was apparently taking down?
