What exactly does “amnesty” mean in this case? I’m all for them doing work as long as it’s legal, but no citizenship or voting until they fulfill legal requirements same as other immigrants

The solution is simple. Cut SNAP funding and Section 8 funding.

It will be hell for a decade as we sort it out and those in that demographic will be forced to work or starve.

MANY will come to our homes to rob and steal, and they will be shot as they should be.

There is no easy way out. The easy way out came and went with Ronald Reagan.

Here’s the reality: any Mexican (they’re not all from Mexico, but I can’t ever tell who’s who) crew for roofing, concrete work, or just about any hard labor job will outwork American crews 2/1. Not only that, they actually show up when they say they will and do a good job.
That has been my experience as well.

Bringing in illegals is not the solution. It is bad for them. It is bad for us. The solution is to fix our work visa process.

In my part of Texas hispanics do much of the landscaping, lawn, sprinkler system, painting and tree removal work. While some may now be legal residents, likely many aren't. They do work hard. And instead of alienating them, they ought to be worked into the fold.

This is a solution that the younger generation of republicans will have to solve. They are going to live with the consequences one way or the other. It's going to be their country to live in for the next half century.

They should be deported then can apply to come in legally then we can go from there. The current 30 to 40 million Illegal Immigrants is not sustainable.

live with the consequences

We are already suffering from this via anchor babies and chain migration that low IQ Third World Illegal Immigrants bring as part of the 'process'

Deport the millions of Illegal Immigrants and then start fresh with handpicked ones to fill some (not all) of the needs. We have able bodied Americans who can and will do these jobs.

As others have pointed out the issue(s) aren't necessarily the workers themselves but the anchor babies and 15 family members they bring over who are not working and leeching off all the free shite they can get their hands on like hospital emergency rooms, public schools, etc.

The labor will be there when the wage is at least competitive with basic factory/warehouse wages and the freebies get cut.

This is the answer. I'm in construction. Mexicans are worth multiple white or black laborers. For the "pay moar money people", our company has almost double laborer pay since covid, yet the workforce is more useless than ever. Guys...they are useless. It's unsustainable.

Off topic but good mechanics are becoming scarce.

Our labor market is fricked.

Anyone saying Americans will work these jobs is just a dishonest person.

But, we still can't allow mass illegal immigration.

I think it’s equally laughable to think prices for anything will go down.

It's more laughable that you don't understand simple economics.

Why do you think housing has increased so much?? Import 20-30 million people that have to live somewhere and the price has to increase.

Also, considering many of those imported go to the emergency room when they get sick or whatever and many of those never pay a dime, do you think that increases the cost for people who do actually pay or decreases?

The costs of illegal immigration don't disappear just because they're politically inconvenient to acknowledge.

The issue is about their legal status. If they are good workers, they should apply to come in legally and continue to be a benefit to our nation. I want our nation to benefit from people from other countries who want to move here to make their lives better but to also contribute to this nation. If someone is a great construction worker, I hope they come here legally and provide their gifts and talents in that industry.

How? Explain how they should do this? That path doesn't exist in any reasonable basis. Instead we get 90% fraudulent resume H-1B's from India who don't share core values with our country and have no interest in assimilating like our Latin American amigos.

quote:

I don't think it's wise to grant blanket amnesty because it sets or continues a precedent of granting amnesty to solve inconvenient immigration problems while providing an incentive for more illegal immigration. All one has to do is sneak in and wait until the government gives them amnesty, because they've done it before.

Any amnesty without legislation revising our immigration laws are just inviting another amnesty in 30 years.

The Caucasian labor force in 2026 has been whittled down to a bunch of junkies straight out of the trailer park.

Probably too late to reverse course on that front, makes sense to keep relying on immigrants for manual labor

They need to come legally, but

Ah - now you're going to tell us why they can't/won't do it legally "and that's a good thing."

Well, here's another, bucko:

If they get legalized/legal status, THEY WILL GET ON BENEFITS AND NOT SHOW UP ANYMORE. You're advocating for slave labor. It was wrong 400 years ago and it's wrong, now.

quote:

the American labor force is severely compromised

Because wages have been undercut by slave labor.

I’m not saying amnesty is necessarily the answer,

Yes you are.

we cannot lose the guys that are actually doing the hardest work in America today.

Your way means we no longer have a nation. Our wealth and identity are just up for grabs for anyone who wants to come work for pennies until a bleeding heart gives them amnesty, then they've hit the benefits lottery and we need to start importing more.

The "reality" is that every single one of those here illegally would claim this exemption. And the Dems would help everyone of them do it.

They are industry norms if you cut corners and hire the cheapest subcontractors. There are plenty of subcontractors out there who do good work and aren’t from Guatemala lol if you constantly hire the cheapest ones of course some may not show because they are cheap for a reason

If you need it to be explained to you why an immigrant illegally entering a nation and taking advantage of its resources isn’t in “good faith” then I don’t know what to tell you
