Many gas stations operate on a slim profit margin as it is. They basically use gas to get you into their stores to buy beer, cigarettes, etc. As gas stations start to lose a significant number of customers to EVs they’ll close. Eventually filling your car with gas will become very inconvenient.

The pricing of the 2022 Tesla Model S starts at $89,990. A fully-loaded Plaid model can top out around $150,000.

The average cost to operate and maintain a car in the U.S. is $5200 a year. You plan on keeping that Tesla for 28 years?

The goal is not for everyone to drive electric cars. The goal is the masses will take public transportation. The elite will drive vehicles and fly in jets powered by fossil fuels.

maybe for large scale farmers in remote areas or mountain living folks could be hard to reach a supercharger.

I think there’s a stronger argument that EVs and electric farm equipment is better for remote areas if you have decent irradiance and can set aside some space for a decent sized solar array. We do it at our ranching op in WTX to run the houses, barns, shops, and charge EVs. I wish we could get good electric trucks, tractors, excavators, etc. getting diesel deliveries is a pain in the arse in the middle of no where and I’d prefer to just make all my own electricity to run the operation because inevitably the 3 mile electric service line goes down during an ice storm

2022 tesla model S plaid roasts the standard gas car in every capacity, although at a premium cost. Within 5 years or so EVs will be superior on a large scale.
enjoy wasting all that time pumping gas that could be saved charging at places you are already going to be. youll probably make 20 trips to the pump in every day driving for every 15 minute stop at a supercharger only needed while on the road trips outside the range.

Physics is a bitch, but dream on.

Must I keep explaining this.

Elites that vilify oil do not believe what they preach.
They don't want you to have power and control. They want to stop YOU from using fossil fuels, not them. They do that by making it so that only he rich can afford certain things.

They don't want to totally destroy modern society. They want it to be the norm for it to be out of YOUR reach.

Stop making snide comments that x is impossible because it wont work. They know that, that is their goal.
- example: Can't refuel fighter jet. exactly! Our military would be weakened. Bingo that is their fricking goal.

But once the world embraces communism there won't be any need for war.

Everything will be peace, harmony, and fairness. Don't you understand that?

I already acknowledged it was at a premium price. I was rebutting someone who claimed it would take 4 EVs to do the work of a gas car, the point being there are EVs currently on the market with better specs and capability. This is a fact regardless of how you feel about EVs.

The infrastructure is expanding rapidly, the tech and development is as well. EVs are becoming more and more reasonable. I don't care about woke green shite, EVs are broadly going to be superior within 10 years.

Thats a very weak argument against EV, specifically, or innovation, generally.

I mean sure whatever that nonsense is. Idgaf about civilization scale oil philosophy or whatever. I'm talking broadly about EVs being superior machines in the very near future

You can already purchase an electric Ford crate engine. You're going to start seeing a whole lot of resto-mods made into all electric project cars.

We think Louisiana is always last now, imagine what happens when the fossil fuel industry is eliminated!

The comment you replied to was discussing how many EVs that'd need to be sold per gasoline vehicle to impact our economy the way the oil and gas industry does. Not the individual specs/pros and cons of each type of car.

It's not a great comparison as you're comparing the entire oil and gas industry to the auto industry. Surely the green technology will expand beyond just electric vehicles, it already has with solar powered homes.

But the general point still stands, what will this do to our economy?

EV's are virtue signaling and will not replace the combustion engine

the tesla owners I know are not virtue signaling, they bought a badass machine. this is such a generalized tired argument. if gas is so much more efficient then isnt that really the virtue signalers?

you don't need to charge a hydrogen powered car.

you just have to convert all that hydrogen and be able to store it which is less efficient than EVs. hydrogen has some pros but its well behind EVs as far as reasonability.

I would challenge you to a very simple competition.

You bring your Tesla, I'll bring my pickup truck. Lets begin on the West coast at the origin of I-40, Barstow CA. We'll drive to the east coast end of I-40 in Wilmington, NC.

The competition is simple, whoever gets there first wins. You can only drive 10+ miles over the speed limit.

ill challenge you to a more practical and meaningful competition for comparison of annual usage instead of the very narrow scenario of a rare cross country type road trip that Id probably opt to fly instead anyway.

record the time you spend at the pump for the next year, and ill record the time I spend at roadside superchargers. hell you can even include the time difference from your competition in the calculation of my competition. I bet you wait longer at the pump in the year including the cross country roadtrip than I would at roadside superchargers with the tesla. Since I can charge at home Im banking the time you waste for a weekly or so trip to the pump

You are right....and then calculate all of the gas tax rebenue that will be lost....it will have to come from somewhere, other TAXES will skyrocket along with inflation!!!!
